Tech mounted my bindings wrong

Unfortunately this is the case. Need to tape it or mark it somehow. Too many of these threads. Rip skis :(

Exactly! Measure where you want the mount yourself, then put a piece of masking tape and draw the line across the tape and then clearly write 'BOOT CENTER HERE' so they can't mess it up. You could even ask them to leave the tape on so that you can double check after the mount to confirm their work. It is easy to get confused when just saying things like +1, +2, -3, etc. - take it upon yourself to eliminate all possible variables. good luck with the new pair!

I had a popular online ski shop send me a ski bundle (Armada thanos dogs) where they tried to hide a partially drilled hole under the attack footprint. Yeah, they shipped new ones before I even got the label for the old ones to go back. This shop 100 percent owes you new crows.

I guess at this point OP thinks the shop mounted one ski the wrong way instead of just fucking up the measurements.

Did you see that post on jerry of the day recently with the Chads who purposefully mounted their skis as far forward and backward as possible? Probably the best one in a long time.

I can’t get over how little tip there is in front of the binding. Fucking hilarious never seen anything like it.

I would say we need blisterreview on the case but actually would prefer luke to keep his acls (for his own sake and for the content).

in what fucking universe would anyone ever mount their skis at +2 center? LMFAO that tech was high for sure

Forward mounting of center was a thing during the golden years. I have a pair of Surface one Life’s that are at like +2 from true. It was a shop mess up but it really never made a difference for me.

Just in case anyone is confused reading this, don't be-- it's nonsense babble from a crazy internet poster. Mounting forward of center has never been (and never will be) a thing in freeskiing

I’ll just leave this here, many more examples and threads if you want to go educate yourself, once again you have tried and failed my dude. Best of luck next time

it was never "a thing" for people who understand how skis work in the slightest, certainly not during the ""golden years"" like you claimed. i know a dummy who spray painted his bases, was that "a thing in the golden years" now too?

your examples so far are a pair you had that was a mistake, some guys that Nasty mounted for who said in the same breath that there is no advantage to it, oh and the Heart Carve guy, he mounted his skis up from center...but he was a troll, IIRC he called his ski the Meat Hammer lmao

there is absolutely no advantage to mounting up from center at all and anyone who does it is experimenting, to put it in the nicest possible terms. it is so clearly not "a thing"

So you can tell how offset the mount is. None of you could figure that out?

Eh I remember it being talked about quite a bit in forums, wouldnt say it ever became a thing but there were a few people doing it back then. Didn't make sense then, doesnt make sense now

Yeah, I remember it being talked about and one guy (derek spong maybe?) mounting his fischers 2cm forward of centre. The rationale was that it was easier to grab true nose and true tail haha.

The amount of these threads popping up has me feeling blessed my shop mounted me right

Was thinking the same thing. I found my new shop and I will never go anywhere else.

OP, this situation sucks, my dude. Sorry that you are having to deal with this. When you go in, clearly tell them that you are unhappy, you want a refund and some other type of guarantee that they will get this right.

wow huge turn of events here

OP did you really have your buddy who works on the retail floor and is not a tech, "try his best" to mount your skis, for free?

and then when he fucked up your mount, you made a callout thread and level 9 STILL gave you a free pair?

if so, that's really fucked up, and you should probably apologize and bring those skis back

when you actually pay for mounts and shop services

we let the tech with 10's of thousands mounts work on your skis

not the tech with 10 mounts whose yur kinda bro

Okay man if you really want to do this here are the facts

I’m new to slc

Someone I know recommended taking my skis to get mounted by someone I’ve never met at a shop

I walk in expecting to pay and the person asks for a couple packs of beers (Had to use my fake)

Was a little confused but wasn’t sure how all this worked in salt lake so I went out and bought them then came back

Picked up my skis the next day and here we are

Look man next time I’ll pay like I was willing last time, I had no idea how the process worked here and now I do

And dude “convince him to try??” Definitely just dropped these things off and the person asked for beer. Never had any intention of getting anyone fired

I apologize to you and your shop for being new to the process and not knowing what to do. I came to newschoolers for help and a good amount of people on here said the shop owes me skis. I just wanted a new pair of noctas and would offer to leave the old ones in the shop to be sold or something. Just don’t want 8 visible holes like there are now on each ski that devalues it and could cause performance issues. If you want me to I can bring the skis I picked up back I was mad when I came in the shop but now just want this over with and no bad blood between you and I man. Thanks.

This story has it all. OP buying beer with a fake deep in the Mormon heartland just to inadvertently do business with an underground-ski tech-reverse-binding-mounting-cabal who took him for a fool.

I don't know, OP honestly sounds legit honest here. The accuser can't string together a sentence, not that grammar is a requirement. But it helps.
