The mexican war, like almost every war, was pointless. I really don't wanna type a two page post but read "Civil Disobedience" by Thoreau, he talks a lot about it.

As I said earlier lots of the people being kept there are al queda members, but seeing as they get sent there under suspicion with no trial it seems incredibly ethically wrong to torture these potentially inocent people. Isn't the right to a fair trial something your country stands for?

You think they get treated better there than they do in their home countries? Maybee you should quit telling me to do some reasearch. You think their lives at home they where getting drowned half to death so people could get false information out of them?

And why should I not have the right to "bash" your government? My government is almost as shitty as yours it's just that bush has been in power for longer than Harper. Oh ya and we're filled with liberal pricks....

I dunno if this has been mentioned cause it's a shit load to read but the only reason guantanamo bay exists is because its on foreign lands so the constitution doesn't really apply. Also your a fucking idiot for for calling Canadians pussy liberals. Last time I checked we have a conservative government and you will in the very near future have a fully liberal one. That being said honestly if at least one minor terror plot has been foiled due to the mainly humane torture its worth it. If sacrifices need to be made to protect the majority.
 
So everything the US government says is a lie, but Amnesty International only tells the uncorrupted truth. They have an agenda just like everyone else. They may have some good points, and good intentions but until you get multiple sources of information and then take the further steps of forming your own opinions you have no soap box to stand on. I am not condoning anything and everything that happens at gitmo, I just think it is equally ignorant to demand its destruction because some other dudes told you it was the right thing to do.
 
The US government doesn't deny that torture goes on there, they just don't like to mention it a whole lot
 
I've been trying for a long time to find the video that was put together by all of the lawyers that were allowed to talk to the inmates there, but I can't find it. It's a must see though. If I can find it I think it might clear up some of this arguing. Basically, the US Government offered ridiculous sums of money as a reward to any person in the middle east that turned in someone who was aligned with Al Queda. They didn't need any evidence. Nearly everyone in Guantanamo Bay is a completely innocent family man who was turned in by his neighbors so they could get the $100,000 or whatever it was. The entire system for rounding up people for this place is fucked. The government trusts that people wouldn't betray an innocent person for money. And it isn't working.
