I think the Coaching made the worst descision ever on taking Tod Bertuzi. This guy should not be playing in the NHL let alone being chosen to play for Team Canada. I think that Jason Spezza, Eric Stall or Sydeny Crosby, would have been a far better choice than that goon.

ill be in torino checkin out the action, and if i see one of those canucks around the village im going to snipe one of em

i was watching them anounce the team, and i was thinking to myself, thats not that good, i mean, they could have picked spezza, crosby or stall like one of you said, im not to sure how brodeur will fair, with out the big pads and all, turco was a good pick, i perosnaly think they shouldnt have picked bert cause hes not having his best season, but then again, hes a big body, and will fill up the ice, casue hes more of a power forward. i have a feeling there goiong to do okay, im not sure how well they will do agaisnt teams with extreme offensive skill like russia or sweden

You really can't beat Bert on the crease though. And Staal and Spezza are alternates, so theyll probably get to play at some point.

*Staal, Eric L/G 6'4 205 10/29/84 Thunder Bay, ON Carolina Hurricanes

Eric Staal! Home town Represnt! That's right I'm from Thunder Bay, so pumped that he made the national team.

yeah you can, put Zdeno in there, and hes out of the crease, but still, theres only one Chara so hes a decent pick i guess

yeah that was a stupid one

they forget about crosbey & let bertuzi play (even though he is good, he should not be representing us for that insane attack

Good looking squad. I agree though, Bertuzzi shouldn't be on there, Spezza is way better... plus you could of paired him with Heatley.

Another thing, the "taxi squad" (McCabe, Spezza, Staal) is pointless. Think about it, four guys in Italy... not staying in the Village- they aren't going to be ready is someone gets injured. They'd be better off to keep those guys in Canada and fly them over if need be.

its not the fact thats its not super unoriginal, its what me and A LOT of people feel about the situation

Staal and spezza made the taxi squad but the team made it clear that they'll get their chance to play alot too.

Spezza is a good choice but he's a one sided player. He can play an offensive role on the top line but that's it. When he plays, he'll probably get put on a third line (centered by draper) and end up having no effect whatsoever.

bertuzzi is a HUGE question mark for me. although he's been playing well the past couple weeks, he's been way too inconsistent this season for me to have put him on the team. I think that they should have gone with another pure scorer, say kariya, instead of a power forward. even marleau would have been a good choice.

anyways, we'll see how it goes

we are going to have a solid team no matter who we chose. The team should bring back the gold, and i will be in Italy watching the action... should be amazing.

Ahhh get over the bertuzzi incident. It was an accident...we don't need to go over it anymore its done, its done, the league decided his punishment, thats why hes back. If Wayne can forgive him, so can I..

That being said, I don't think hes had a good enough season to justify being on the team at all....

Anyone who's bitching about the Bertuzzi selection from a hockey perspective doesn't know what he's talking about. The past 2-3 weeks or so have seen him return to the kind of play he used to have. He's creative, he's physical, and he's possibly the most effective player on the ice night in and night out. He belongs on the team, and though I didn't expect them to have the sense to notice, that's one of the best tough decisions they made.

If you're objecting to it on a bitchy "but he hurt a guy 2 years ago" sense, well, I didn't see anyone screaming at McSorely about the Brashear incident when they interviewed him about Gretzky's mom on national TV. Get over it, it has nothing to do with what the guy can bring to team Canada.

That said, both Lecavalier and Doan should have been dropped in favour of Spezza and Staal. Crosby will have his time, but having watched all three play repeatedly I can say without any reservation that Spezza and Staal would be more helpful to this team than a lot of the current roster, especially Staal out on the big ice. Give him the puck and watch the opposing defense just wear themselves out trying to keep up. Overall I'm not worried or disappointed, but I am shocked to see that none of the three young guns made it.

Yes, Bertuzzi is a great player, im not taking that away from him, but someone who took someones career away from him which was clearly not an accident to injure, I believe should not have the right to represent our country...

yes i agree with him being really good, but as i said, i dont think he should have the right to represent our country...

People get hurt all the time in hockey. You think that every person that's hit somebody from behind should be banned from advancing in their careers? Mistakes happen, tragedies happen, it comes with the game.
