Team America got the Shaft

Team america's video was better than team canada's.Better production quality, editing, cinematography, and .......skiingTeam canada had some sick doubles, but the overall level of riding in the team america vid was just higher. Every single team america trick was epic. Both dumont and wallisch showed style in the classic sense (as opposed to the modern sense which only seems conscerned with how hard you stick your double).
I know that judging is always subjective so this isnt a knock at the JOSS judges, I'm just giving my opinion.

i think canadas was wayyy better. america had lame tricks that ive already seen a ton before (like simons gay mistys) canada had really sick double corks which are hard. america tricks werent nearly as impressive. i thought americas song choice was annoying.

Although America's edit was way cleaner and more enjoyable to watch, the skiing in Canada was way better.

id say that yes, your opinion warrants a relpy since this is a forum and thats generally the format: person A states an opinion and person B responds. I guess that technically there is abandwidth limit, but im pretty sure my thread isnt putting ns in jeopardy. Therefore, if you truly believe that my thread doesnt warrant a reply, then simply don't reply. But you did, and gave you're own opinion, so now i will respond.
Simon has an old bag of tricks.... yes. and good god im thankful that there wasnt a double front in that edit. BUT, his sw 9s and tens are perfect and his zero was ill.
I guess, more than even the tricks i was amazed at the production quality of the team usa edit. Every shot was incredibly well executed and creativly captured. There were shots in the team canada vid that were grossly overexposed, all from boring angles.
Remeber this is a skiing, photo, and video contest. Maybe i should rephrase my original claim: Berman and Hamlet got the shaft.

im pretty sure that he fell doing one, not a dub fron. But there are none from him in the edit. Its.......refreshing

no he didnt he tried though, the only double that team america was the one from tom, team canada had more doubles which could have led to their higher score.

but i agree with the thread creator americas edit was better over all than the canadian one

yeah its hard to say what went into the judging, the argument that canada has more/better doubles ignores the fact that america beat sweden

i jthought team americas was more creative: urban, jibs, jumps. Besides the horse (pretty cool) team canada was the same as team down under: jumps and doubles. But the swedish judges love jumps and doubles so they won. Team americas song choice was way better to.

America's was entertaining and no doubt appeals more to most of the people on NS cause t had Twall and biggie music, but lets be honest Canada's had way more impressive tricks and footage.

tis true, im caught, dont know for sure. I swore i read or heard on on of the many blogs that the majority of judges were scandnavians. I would love to know for sure, anybody got the facts? I know j.f houle was judging but i thought that was just for JOI

Team Canada's video was epic and I'm an American.
Team America's video was equally epic.
I love America more than the next guy (ask ANYONE that remotely knows me. Seriously, border patrol lets me skirt across the border back into the states when I say I'm from, "Mear-ugh-cugh") and I'll tell you whuuut, Team Canada and Team America had amazing videos because they're on the right side of the world. Scandos can eat a big one. Next year, JOSS teams should be split into hemispheres.

Canada and America...
Watch us take over the other side of the globe!

Only one judge were from scandinavia.. the others were, JF Cusson, Chris Turpin, Levi Siver and Niall Bouzon.

the edit got taken down, because they had some issues with their music, but it will be up as soon as everything gets worked out.

and yes the judging was shit, both edits were of epic proportions but get over it dude!

Honestly I hope Jon doesn't even rank them next year. Just pick an overall winner. It doesn't matter who got 3rd and who got 4th, they're fucking sick skiing edits that you get to watch and you can enjoy both of them without trying to decide which one had better tricks or which song was better or who was more creative.

Next year it should be peoples' choice, overall winner, photography winner, and best skier performance and that's it. None of this 1 thru 7 garbage, it just takes away from the awesomeness that is the stuff these guys all produced.

reason the judging might seem whack is because they took 7 tricks from each video, and compared them to the ones in others as if it were a big air contest. so yes, a dub cork beats out a forward 10, and style 180s don't go so well either. but really who cares.
