Teacher suspended for playing "Same Love"

you spelled "obsessively religious" wrong

anyway, everyone bitching about the teacher playing the song/not teaching should realize that it was a student who was using the song in some sort of performance in a performing arts class. however, she should be suspended for allowing macklemore

Your overall point by saying your taste in music is the best since the subject of music is subjective to the listener. Not saying I'm a raving Macklemore fan, but I really like the lyrics behind "Otherside" and the overall meaning that he is trying to get across with "Same Love".

The point of this post is the teacher getting suspended for the content in the song, not the content producer, and by making your "joke" about how bad Macklemore is, is just off topic bullshit to make yourself feel superior about your musical taste.

I honestly don't care enough to restate my premise. Sorry my grammar skills don't fit your requirements of understanding.

that should have just been a slap on the wrist if anything, also im second on the online list right now, thats kinda cool.

what would you suggest she plays, I'm sure most songs there is something that somebody finds offensive in.

True that. I honestly haven't heard one song i like by him. A rap song about gay marriage is not even hip hop thats some bullshit pop garbage that he made to catapult him into mainstream.

Nothing is wrong with country. Country is the opposite of "gay music".

Yeah, hate on my choice of music dude.... Because I don't like any other kind of music... Haha shut up.

Did you just compare Macklemore to Drake or Justin Bieber?

I'm on my way to discuss this with you.

I'm not saying that he's not hip-pop now. I'm saying that there is good pop, then there is shit pop. Macklemore is good pop, Justin Bieber and Drake are shit pop. Their lyrics are played and cliched beyond belief, and they write what's profitable. Macklemore's not like that, for the most part. For example, there's not many other hip-pop or hip-hop artists that would release a single actively supporting gay marriage, and even if you hate every other thing he's ever done you gotta respect him for that. There is also old Macklemore, before he blew up to the extent he has now, but thats another discussion. imho you can't compare Macklemore to the standards of what's considered good hip hop because he doesn't really fit that genre, he hasn't since he got clean a while back. To me, it seems like he's blending shit like spoken word, slam poetry and hip hop all into one, and theres no one else who really sounds like him.

Also, fucking lol at the comparison of Macklemore to Lil Wayne.

Lil Wayne lyrics:

I do me, I say hey miss Chung Lee I like to see your booty

Roll like sushi, I'm trynna dip my celery up in her blue cheese

Macklemore:

And trust me it's not dope to be 25 and move back to your parent's basement

I've seen my people's dreams die

I've seen what they can be denied

And "weeds not a drug" - that's denial

Groundhog Day life repeat each time

Somewhat different message, no?

hahahaha whatever, that's your opinion and I 100% respect it. I don't meet too many people that hate Macklemore around my Seattle area high school (shockingly) so this is interesting. First of all though, I don't think Macklemore has a good and wholesome image. Maybe he's not Old Dirty, but he's not christian rock either. As for Same Love, I can just say that I think you're blinded as well, by cynicism. All the money from sales goes to Music for Marriage Equality, which is a group with the purpose of promoting gay marriage legalization (successfully) in Washington.

you honestly dont get it do you...? Macklemore's lyrics are head and shoulders above the rest because they actually make sense and have meaning. Instead of just rapping about money, cars, doing drugs, and hoes, he raps about his struggles with drugs. It is truly inspiring. And did you ever think that maybe he got that high on the charts because he has a cult, loyal following of fans, and is just plain good.

Did you ever think that about Lil Wayne, Justin Beiber and Drake?

People don't top the charts because they're good, people top the charts because they trick people into "liking" their music for a couple of months with marketing techniques and appeal to a naive and blunt audience.

They're both straight white males that can get tons of teenage pussy and that make lots of money by tying songs into current issues in the US?

yea and i saw absolutely no advertisement for the Heist... only advertisement i saw was on Ryan Lewis's Youtube channel, so only the people who were already fans would have seen it... so how could they have truick people into liking their music with marketing??? there was no marketing...

my friends showed me his music and i thought it was good... cause it is good. nothing tricking me into liking them, just some good fucking music!

Apparently one of his family members is gay, and macklemore was sick of seeing two people not be able to get married because of stupid bull. I'm not saying that money wasn't on his mind, but I think he really does want to change things.
