Tattoo pain

im getting my first tat next week and im wondering about the pain.. Im not really worried about it cause i know its gonna hurt but i really want it so im just gonna deal with it. so i just want to go into it having some idea of what its gonnan feel like...its gonna be on my upper arm/shoulder area so theres more meat there than most places. so tell me what its gonna be like
 
it will hurt most as it gets near the back of your arm. i would say it feels like a bee sting over an over again. the first couple of minutes hurts the most then you sort of get used to it. the outline hurts more then the shading. um over all on a scale of 1 - 10 10 being the worst pain of your life i would say starts off at like a 6 then fades to a 3 after words it just feels like a giant brush burn for a few days. make sure to stock up on becitrin.
 
It's kinda like being scratched by a cat for the entire duration... As above, the outlining is the worst, it's three needles and the go slightly deeper, the shading is 8needles and feels a lot number. And the initial shock is the worst and then it's just annoying more than anything, if it goes on to your shoulder blade then that'll be the worst as you get bone vibrations that make it feel worse.
Just take a chocolate bar of some description if it's going to take a while to keep the sugar levels high and you'll be sweet as a nut.
Post some pics when it's all smoothed out.
 
over bone yes does hurt but from first hand experiance from having both a back peic that streches from shoulder blade to shoulder blade, and a quarter sleeve. the most pain full place was on the back inside of the arm
 
so is this like a general rule that over bone hurts more and more meat makes it a little more bearable??

I'm debating getting two memorial tats. Don't have a clue where, I'm thinking chest, like on my pecs.
 
pretty much but you have to watch fatty areas as weel that shit hurts to, over muscle is the best. and actually despite general concensus over your spine is not to bad at all
 
thats exactly what i was going to say. i have words on my inside forearm starting at the elbow and it feels exactly like a cat scratching. a needle isnt a good description because that makes you think of like, poking, which it doesnt feel like at all. hard scratching or light cutting probably.

its not to bad though.
 
I want it to be somewhere strong but still hidden under a shirt. I'm thinking side of shoulder or bicep, maybe on pecs cause they are kinda right in your face but easily covered, also close to the heart. Any other spots that anyone can think of to put two tattoos, like symmetrical on the body. Possibly inner wrists?
 
my cousin just got a huge one on his arm

he said it didnt really hurt like pain its kinda like a mosquito bite but constant and it itches after

I got one on my shoulder and it really wasn't bad at all. it's like the combination of a bee sting and an aggressive massage. if you ever had those electric pad things during some muscle rehab it's pretty similar. oh and if worst comes to worst just go hammered. the guys their most likely are blazed and won't care. my cousin (female) was literally balling when they started so we took her to a bar got her hammered and finished it off, but she's a wuss.
 
It doesnt hurt very much. I have two sleeves and a chest panel, personally the inside bend on your arm and the elbow are the only spot I think that really hurt. Everything else ranges from slightly annoying to mild discomfort. Wrists are annoying because it makes your fingers go numb but doesnt hurt really.

After the first few hours I often found the position you had to be in for the artist to do the work was the worst part.
 
yeah i got my first one on my ribs... first 5 minutes are pretty bad, but just concentrate on breathing if it gets TOO bad. after a few minutes you totally get used to it, and almost sorta enjoy it ?
 
its different for different people. My mom has her name in hyrogliphics down her spine and she said it hurt like a bitch. She also has a lot of tattoos.
 
yea i fugured that the spot im getting has minimal bone and a lot of meat so i shouldnt be that bad...my mom has one on her lower back and she said when it hit her spine she almost cried every time. so atleast i dont have to deal with any bone.
 
it hurts a lot when its on tendons/ligaments as well, like the one on my chest goes over and almost into my arm pit, when it wason that tendon or whatever connects your arm to your chest it hurt like shit.
 
it depends entirely on where u get it. i got 2 tats on my forearms and it didnt hurt at all. dont be a pussy they dont hurt as bad as everyone makes them out to be. piercings are worse. ugh.
