has any one been there? i might be going out there this winter and was wondering how there park was and how is the back country stuff?

i THINK taos is the one that doesn't allow snowboarders, so the park might be lacking but i heard they have good snow

i saw it in the summer, the normal terrain looks pretty sick but i doubt a park is first on their list

I actually don't think that Toas has a park. SO build you own jumps!!!

One time my cousin Walter got this cat stuck in his ass. True story. He bought it at our local mall so the whole fiasco wound up in the news. It was embarrassing for my relatives and all, but the next week, he did it again. Different cat same results complete with another trip to the emergency room. So I run into him a week later in the mall and he’s buying another cat and I says to him “Jesus Walt, what are you doing? You know your going to get this cat stuck up your ass too, why don’t you knock it off?” And he said to me “Brody, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?”

^there are many places, aspen didn't used to, and neither did breckenridge

I would like to not have snowboarders to ski with. Theres nothing worse than trying to get off a lift full of snowboarders. They all eat shit and slam their boards into your skis removing big chunks from the topsheet. No big deal. They don't all suck.

hey greekypunkboy have you ever been there? why don't you look at the website and other peoples posts before you say shit...back on the subject, yeah no snowboarders so that's a plus but yeah they only have 2 tables, a QP, a hip and a bunch of rails

I live in New Mexico and ski at Taos all the time. Taos' park is shitty but their terrain is some of the best I have ever skied. If you are there on a powder day be prepared for bliss. Lightest snow ever because New Mexico has almost no humidity and other factors. Lighter than the storied dumps of Utah and Colorado. But be prepared to hike. To laps of West Basin early after storms super steep technical and rocky. Kachina Peak will have untracked weeks after storms just because it is so huge and few people are willing to hike for an hour to get the goods. Steep but open with big drops everywhere. Just go up the Pheonix chair scope your line-limitless possibilities-than go to the other side of the mountain and hike.

Enjoy! I'll be up at college next year but if I happen to be back home I'd be glad to show you my favorite spots.

Jesus rossi900, I was saying that I didn't think that they had a park. All rthe posts before mine were pretty vague, so I was saying what I thought. But the main point of that post was to say that jumps that you biuild in the big mountain (which I've heard that Toas has alot of skiing like that, I could be wrong) are the way to go.

I learned to ski it Taos over the years and they definitely have some amazing terrain, but some of the best you do have to hike to and hiking at close to 12,000' is definitely a good work out. My only bitch was they really seemed to have a real Nazi feel with their ski patrol.

Also, for the record they do not allow snowboarders and probably never will because the founder of Taos, the late Ernie Blake, more or less made that one of his requirements for operations there.

However, I have seen people on snowboards get on the lifts there, however, they were instructors and the lifties just let them on.

Taos is the most amazing place i have ever been, the mountian is awesome, and it is really beautiful

i live in new mexico too. taos kicks ass if you like steeps and great powder days (however rare they are). they dont really have a great park, but thats not really a turn off considering on the natural terrain. you should definitely go just to experience it.

yeah it is a ways from Taos. I grew up in western texas and we would go to Taos, Riodosa, and angel fire. i was too small to remember the taos trips, but then i went back there this past christmas. It was such an awesome place. small mountain feel with everything you want from a big mountain. although a couple of the lifts were slow. they were really short on snow when we were there so i didnt get to test a lot of the terrain, but i could tell it would be real tight. never saw a park... probably from lack of snow... so yeah rossi, if you cant go to a resort in CO, Taos is pretty cool for skiing.

taos is awesome for pure skiing, but if you like the ski town feel or whatever its not so great....

Some old guy who has been to alot of ski resorts that used to come into my tech shop last year said the skiing was good but the native americans are fucking assholes there.

Crashin' with Passion'

You know your a good skier when you drive your standard car all the way to the resort in your ski boots.

yeah, all the resorts in NM are run by native americans, except taos. there are a few but not many. but...... they are like 80% of the population, in and around Taos.

las crusas is about 4 to 5 hours from santa fe, then about another hour or so to taos... and thats one way, toas is about as far away from colorado as las crusas is from texas, so basically is completely across the state
