Tanners Interview

So I will admit I thought Simon should have won the X Games super pipe AT FIRST, and i even hated on Tanner on NS but after further review of his run and reading the interview I have to say Tanner is really the spirit of skiing. Tanner was one of the only ones at X Games 12 that DIDNT have a target sticker or nike sticker on his skis, and advertising that fucking movie "jumper" what the fuck? Tanner is truelly taking skiing to the next level. Im sorry for hating Tanner you rock

people really need to realize how lucky we are to have tanner as the face of the sport. he recognizes what needs to be recognized and does what needs to be done. there is no cheating involved in getting to the top of the game. everything is for the right.

now everyone who hated/boo'd on tanner...slap yourself in the face and kick yourself in the balls for the sake of the sport and how shitty it is to have retards like you.

Wake up call for all the sheep out there. So much respect for being blind to the hate and standing by his victory.

Dude you went from hating Tanner to lovin him, to hating people that are repin their sponsors. What the fuck, when your sponsored you need to rep that company, if it is a sticker on your skis, helmet or a die cut out of red bull on the bottom of your skis. So much hate, who the fuck cares if they are repin their company, does this effect you in anyway? Does this effect the progression of skiing? The answer to this is No.

i dont think the competitors had a choice about advertising Jumper as it was on their bibs... As for tanner. i enjoyed his run but simons more. as for the booing and snowballs.. that was really lame of people to do that.. Tanner cgot the gold and with a technical run he earned it.. Simon earned what he got as well.. Both skiers are pushing skiing in a direction faster than anyone else.. and for hating on advertising... Those companies, whether it be nike, target, line, empire, whatever... they are putting money into these events so people like you can go and watch them.. without sponsors.. skiing wouldnt be where it is today, terrain parks wouldnt be built, advancements in ski design wouldnt be there.. Let the sponsors do what they do, regardless of how much you hate it..

Alright, I understand what you're saying with the stickers and logos. It really isn't always up to the riders as far as that goes because they get paid to rep these companies, and therefore that's what they have to do. But are you criticizing him for suddenly supporting Tanner after the artcile? If anything, I commend him. He narrow-mindedly used to be on the Hatred Bandwagon that seems to be home to all too many newschoolers, but he's gotten off it and acknowledging Tanner for who he is, and as a rider. I hope the article does this for alot of people. I'm not saying our industry needs to bend over for the guy, but merely realize that he does deserve some respect. You all come on here and hate the hell out of each other, and freak out... pretty much because you personally feel disrespected. Well, this guy is feeling disrespected by a whole community and he's being really cool about it. Not only that but he realizes that there's different opinions to be had, and although he's not trying to change yours, he just doesn't want snow-balls thrown at him, anymore than any one of you want a thread you created to have every response be fag, n00b, or the like.

Suck it up Newschoolers, you could never be where you are without those who came before you.

(uhhhhhhhh /rant)

ok well lets just get over it now jeeessus. tanner hall won the x games, he still doesnt give a fuck about the bullshit but is just a more humble guy now and well he is the best skier to ever be a apart of our sport. i have respected tanner from day one and he is still my favorite skier of all time along with candide and mikael.

I really like his attitude towards us on NS, and his whole attitude towards skiing. Hes a modest(sp) guy and deserves respect. He has been here since the start of freeskiing and hes still pushing skiing, thats what makes him so great.

personally i've liked tanner from the day i discovered twintips, but before and during the x-games i started to wonder if he really was that good at what he was doing, and if he wasn't as awesome as he seemed to be. i guess i go affected by everyone who hated him and thought dumont should have won that gold. but after seeing both hall's and dumont's run through the pipe, i realized he deserved the 1st place, and that he didn't win because of his name. he's one hell of a skier, and allthought he has been around since the "beginning", he is still pushing and evolving the sport.

i think losing tray banner his best friend and i forget the other guys name that he was also really good friends with really changed his look on life maybe, i think this started with CR's injury though and really seeing CR struggle.

yup me too.

we should all be thanking tanner for what he's done for us and this sport. hes progressed it and gotten the sport the attention that it truly needs and deserves. booing him and tossing snowballs at him was completely disrespectful to say the least.

I dunno if he's just putting on a show in front of the cameras of he changed for the better. I know from the past he is good in front of the cameras, but in front of fans, he is the biggest asshole in skiing

as for hating on sponsors, take a look at the direction downhill bike racing is going. Probably one of the coolest and ballsiest sports out there, but without sponsors making races happen it is very difficult for the pros to make ends meet just biking, therefore not allowing for much progression in the sport. The whole freeride aspect of the sport is taking off, but racing is just not happening and the governing bodies just dont have cash. Feel lucky that we have big name sponsors pumping so much money into the sport that we love.

^about the sponcers and shit, your right on there. thats why most skiers are ski bums before they blow up. its a spendy sport. bottom line.

Tanner is great bottom line.

Tons of respect for tanner...he did have a sponsor sticker on his skis, the Zune Sticker. Not to say he's a sell out or anything. But you're right even with all the money he gets pros are pros and get sponsors and he has a deal with microsoft or Zune.

Mad props to T-hall for the interview, and making this sport what it is, He did have the superior run, no matter what anyone says, just go back and look at it again, if your hating that run, then your hating on one of the (if not the) best pipe run ever...

man up and accept it T-Hall is the greatest freeskier to grace the earth...

he didnt deserve all the negative feedback that night. how many people in that crowd do you think really knew two shits about skiing? i think it undoubtfully belonged to tanner, i couldnt belive how clean the whole run was, and how consistant he was

I can't believe it had to come to this. Tanner has been so down recently about all the hate after x-games. He clearly won, and to anyone who knows anything about halfpipe skiing what tanner did at x-games was so much better and progressive than what simon did. No offense to simon, but tanner absolutely killed at and deserved to win

completely agree..tanner was giving simon mad props after he won

and congrats on 1000, but you still lost the bet

i was super sceptical when tanner started skiing big mountain but after seein believe my opinions totally changed. he is one of the best big mountain skiers out there and he only started focusing on it this year! he will surely dominate big mountain in 2 or 3 years like he did park in the early 2000's. so much props tanner. look forward to seeing massive. make it a little longer than believe tho and get a couple pipe shots in there. keep it up

Tanner got hurt badly on chads.

CR was in a coma.

Trey Banner died.

Mikey Pederson died.

He has had a very hard last few years, yet he has still been able to rise above it, put out 3 sick movies (PYB, show and prove, believe) and win gold in X 3 times and win US Open Pipe last year. He kills it all the time and it seems to me that he has become much more humble during this time....

No, I am not criticizing him, I am just saying you cant hate on someone repin a company on their skis. I don't criticize people for their likes or dislikes. Your right, way too much hate, which sucks.

Alright so when i was a youngun i was a tanner fan because i knew nothing about him and just respected him as an awesome skier. But since iv gotten older and more into the skiing community iv grown to dislike him because of what my friends have told me. Heard of a kid who rides park and races, one day after a race he clipped into the twin to take some laps in the park and still had his racing jacket on, who comes through the park but tanner. Stops, looks at the kid and says "nice jacket fag" and takes off. Good friend of mine at school at CU used to be a junior olympian ski racer, him and his buddies were chilling in the lodge at mammoth and Tanner walks by and says the same thing. Then there are just incidences that aggrevate me like when he gives simon critique on his run at the xgames, im sure he thought he was being a nice guy and has alota respect for simon but come, thats not right. I will admit that i enjoyed the interview and i thought he demeanor while getting booed at the xgames was very respectable, but hes bitchin about all the hate towards him on newschoolers, but i wonder why that hate started in the first place? Hes hated on plenty of people himself and been quite a dick from what iv heard, i guess im not supposed to judge because iv never met him myself, but i dont think theres much doubt that in the past hes been a dick. Hopefully hes working on changing that, and it seems like he really is, so i do give him a little more respect but not much. It actually seems like right now theres suddenly a shitton of people jumping onto a i love tanner bandwagon that were previously on the i hate tanner wagon, but thats just my opinion.

One of my buddies told me that he heard from this other guy that Tanner was responsible for 9/11. Thats why I hate him...

Don't listen to your bros. Make your own opinion.

Go Tanner.

So then im taking it you like tanner because you know him personally, because if not your in the same boat as me and only like him because of what other people have told you about him for you to make judgement, im not gonna like a guy who rides through the park callin people he doesnt even know fags thats exactly the reputation our sport doesnt need.

Yeah I too gained respect for Tanner after this years X games but as for saying that he hasn't sold out or as you put it "didn't have a target sticker or nike sticker on his helmet" it's frankly bullshit. Did you look at his bases by any chance... The guy's got fucking redbull logos on them
