I think it's time to put an end to all of this crap. Every time i go to the park, all I see is the kids riding up with their arms as stiff as a board, looking like total retards. Then I even heard one kid congratulate the other when then came back up on the tow by saying 'Dude you looked just like tanner on that.' It's really pissing me off that skiing is turning into a corporate mainsteam sport where everyone needs to follow a certain style. Props to anyone that goes out and finds their own style. Those are the people that really improve the sport.

And sorry if this subject has been beat to death already.

I never said I hated tanner, I said that I hate how everyone wnats to copy his style. Ifit continues at this rate, the style category in comps will now be call, 'How close does he/she look like tanner'. Tanner is a great skiier, i'm not taking that away from him. What does make me mad is that people are trying to make him the definition of what style should be.

When there's a section in Freeze, telling people how to get style, theres a problem. A person finds his of her style, they don't read an article how to get it.

I think you shouldnt worry about people trying to look like tanner. Tanner got to the point of where he performs by riding the way that he does. You can learn a lot by watching and trying to immitate awesome skiers, such as tanner

I think you people that are so obsessed with the style's and politics of skiing are full of shit. I ski because I like it, it seems to me as if half of you are so concerned about image and what-not that you're skiing for the wrong reasons, almost like acting. I might be way-off on this but I can personally say I don't give a shit what anyone else on the slope is doing except me and my friends.

I think your paying to much attention to other kids. Do you have fun skiing? Do you like to ski? Do the kids you speak of enjoy skiing?

Why does it matter to yo? if you don't like people looking like tanner hall then you need to do so by showing them a different way...on the hill,not on internet chat rooms. step up and improve your style show them a more badass way...other wise quit bitching because all it does is make you look like a whiny bitch.

seriously there arent THAT many positions you can be, in the park...the style tanner uses, is an athletic position, and as long as you dont be retarded with it...oh fuck this i dont feel like typing

Wait. Let me get this straight. Tanner's style is bad for skiing, but also 'props to anyone that goes out and finds their own style.'

What Tanner has is his own style, it works for him. Whether he hunches down or stands straight it's his style, and he can do what he wants with it. Sure, people are going to imitate him in whatever he does, and that's expected.

Competitions are not judged by how much you look like Tanner and they will not get to that point.

And for the most part, I believe you misunderstood the kids when they said 'you looked just like Tanner.'

Look, Tanner is one of the most solid freestyle skiers around. Sure, his style coming up to a jump might look funny, but it works. Look at his landings off of jumps or look at how motionless he is acrossed rails or in the air. There are very few other riders out there like that. Even many pro skiers who are no doubt sick riders.. look at their landings, they are just not as solid.

You're right though in that we should all be working on developing our own individual style. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying different styles or even imitating someone else. Because you can learn alot from it. Then you can pull different aspects you like from various different styles and create your own style with it.

Everyone does it, musicans, artists, athletes, and actors.

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

I love how just about everyone has twisted and distorted everything I've said into this that and the other thing. Maybe I should summarize and reword my point:

I hate that skiing is moving in the direction of skateboarding. Where you have to do everything a certain way to have 'style'. If you have natural gorilla style, thats cool. Nothing wrong with that. If you're up on the mountain and you're asking your buddie if you looked like tanner, or what you should do to look more like tanner theres a problem. I never ever said tanner sucks or tanner's gorilla style is gay. In fact tanner is on my list of favorite skiiers. I did say however, how much I hate the direction our sport is going with everyone conforming to the say someone skis in order to feel 'in'.

Tanner Hall has no style, he has SUPER AMAZING NICE LOOKING SKIING. Thats what he has, and hes a good skier. People like other people that are good at things, or they are jealous of them.

its def not going to be, 'who looks like tanner most' in competitions. if that is what it was, then tanner would win all his comps, cause well, he is tanner hall. but sum ppl want to have his style, i dont, sum others do. id rather have my own, even though i dont pay any attention to it

I havent liked that gorilla stance that much but I really like it when he does that on wallrides, I just saw freshtival (which he won) on T.V and that guys gorilla stance killed it on the wallride.
