TANNER: The Jesus of the Super Pipe!!

man i actually feel bad for tanner. he threw down though so props to him he is the jesus of skiing

tanner's run was fucking sick, he won fair and square, every single run was completely flawless. i mean holy shit talk about an unbelievably talented skier, and a very worthy champion. fuck those assholes booing at the bottom making an ass of our sport on national television, sounded no better than a bunch of dumb shit poor sports at a stupid basketball game. as far as that caption goes i hope no one is taking it seriously, it's just typical ESPN bullshit, building up and dramatizing their "rivalry" that they love to feed off of.

...exactly my thoughts...I don't respect his opinion if he doesn't have anything to back it up. I don't respect when people hate just for the sake of hating.

I was there last night, I took this photo of Tanner's second run. It seemed to me that people were booing Simon's low score and not booing Tanner, but who knows. It was pretty clear to me Tanner won, he just stomped everything.

i think its bullshit that people say dumonts run wasnt as tech as tanners. Since when is boosting 21 feet not tech? when is grabbing a 1260 in the pipe not tech? dumont went bigger on every hit and so what he didnt spin rightside or get in 7 hits instead of 5. I think going that big is harder than doing a flat 3 or a right 9

your 2nd amen....agreed!

having an opinion is one thing but qualifying it brings respect. i'll listen to what you say but if all that is swirling around your peanut brain is 2 word phrases like: FUCK tanner...and FUCK that...FUCK_______ blah blah...then i'd have to say....

go back to elementary school and broaden your vocabulary and let us know why?

grade 3 is about when i learned those phrases...

why do we NEED the "tanner vs. simon" rivalry and an even better question is what does it have to do with the olympics?

it has nothing to do with the olympics and it will do nothing to get pipe skiing into the olympics. the only thing that will get pipe into the big gong show that is the olympics is the development of the FIS world cup circuit. now check who's been competing on said circuit:

Matt Hayward

Justin Dorey

Mike Riddle

Sarah Burke

Jen Hudak

Virginie Favre

those are just a few names that are out there and supporting the sport on the international level. these are the skiers we need out there pushing the world cup circuit and showing the IOC that on the international level, pipe skiing can succeed.

amen to you and

amen to canadian riders

unfortunately having a national sponsored tour such as the north american ski tour, x games, honda tour, and now that the dew tour has picked up pipe and slope...will do more to advance the marketing of pipe/slope in the olympics than Fis riders...

I agree about the process of recognition on the FIS circuit and that it was riders on the circuit that spawned the entry of skier cross in 2010 but I'm hoping that pipe/slope will garner some attention for it like snowboarding got through all these aforementioned events.

but this is for another thread...

Why do you come to say this... what in your neanderthal mind made you decide he was gay(more the man then youll ever be) to me he seems like probally one of the most down to earth guys in skiing. he always win comps yet hes still there complimentin simon to keep his ego goin

even gretchen blieiler (sp?) did something on her victory lap, rather than just do nothing. tannner got boo'd cause his amplitude was so much smaller than dumonts. Understand the gaper logic, they want big and dont understand tech.

unfortunately you're wrong. look at skateboarding. we're talking about a culture that spawned snowboarding and has been around since the early 70's producing icons like tony hawk. after reading your response, skateboarding should be in the olympics but it's not.

i began snowboarding back in the early 90s and the whole time i watched and waited for snowboarding to be added to the olympics. huge tours in canada like the snowboard canada jam tour and the westbeach classic in whistler put the sport into the spotlight for years and the IOC never even took notice. the IOC doesn't care about marketing, they don't care about the x-games, the dew tour and they will never care about slopestyle. unfortunately that's the harsh reality about the people you're dealing with.

until the FIS tour picks up, you won't see skiing in the olympics. and i wouldn't expect those not competing on the world cup tour to be in the olympics. national ski associations will treat it just like moguls in that unless you're part of the team, you won't compete for your country.

Just read the Tanner Hall interview by NS and the one by Redbull ...

...man good to hear he'll be back at X ...

Tanner bro...you are the Jesus of Skiing...you're the man bro..

okay, i don't see why there's so much hate generated towards tanner? If you guys haven't noticed yet he is human and we all make dumbass mistakes why cant he? I also want to make i clear that he IS NOT AN ASSHOLE! When i was at camp of champions sitting there bored and not being able to ski because i had almost broken my back he just turned to me and struck up a conversation asking how i was doing and all that.. then he told me to heal up quick and stuff and threw a few kang flips so everyone could watch. Theres this huge stereotype around him that he's a asshole and a jerk and all this shit like my friends were telling me they saw him getting mad because he was waiting to get into the longhorn in whistler WELL NO FUCKING WAY everyone else gets mad when they have to wait 15 minutes to go have a beer why can't he. get over it guys he's better than you me and anyone else.
