we all know he dropped out. its not a question of weather or not he did... what people want to know is WHY did he. and the answer is because of skiing. and he made the right choice imho

Really.. if its the most valueable thing you can have, how come he is making more then the average person with a 8 year education from the university or toronto, or even harvard for that matter?

the most important thing you can have is knowledge and merlix you really need to think before you talk. exceptions occur daily. tanner is an exception to the rule. while not having an proper education he makes a lot of money. a friend of mine won the lottery at 18 on his second ever ticket. he is retired and doesn't go to skool. its called being lucky. tanner has skill and is lucky. however he is missing the intelligence to make good conversation when he's old and cant ski anymore. when I hit 55 or 60 my body will be too worn out to do many sports so I will read, watch TV and talk to my wife and friends that are still living. and since I went to skool and read books and understand semi-advanced concepts my older years will be interesting where tanner wont have that much to talk about, except for his career.

while I've set myself up for a flaming think about. money leaves you, knowledge stays forever. knowledge is the most important thing you gain throughout your life. for the general population it is our knowledge that helps us earn more or less. tanner is just an exception.

Well, if you wanted to be really philosophical, you could argue that tanner's knowledge is what is making him money (Eg of how to jib).

 
merlix knwoing how to jib is a dumb argument because when he's too old to jib anymore there will be smarter ppl who can do teaching ppl who wanna know how to do it. you gotta be able to communicate what you know and people with less than a REAL high school education have trouble doing that.

IF, big if, I was offered money to ski 200+ days a year I would do it, provided that the other 165 days were spent in school getting me a degree that I could use once my career in skiing went in the gutter! I dont wanna have one option in my life, and if skiing is that only option then I'm fucked cause anyone can get injured!

you guys are all idiots. he could easily retire from skiing and live in a shack in italy for the rest of his life. he is going to make a million+ before he retires and thats enough. he could get a part time job and still make enough. plus after he retires he will still get paid to do shit for companys. oh and btw... john symms is a good example of the opposite of tanner hall, i mean i know this is off subject but john symms go to the university of utah, doesnt smoke, drink or any of that stuff and is still going big in the ski industry and getting a good degree. im sure tanner hall will end up having a better life then symms just because tanner is better, and made a good choice to skipp highschool.

OK 1,000,000 is not a lot to live on. I know I could not maintain my lifestyle for the next 70 years or 55 years on that. do you have any idea how much it costs to live, then add in inflation. u think tanner would want a part time job if he has a million bucks?

Actually, at the moment Tanner is the poster boy for freeskiing. I feel that he is the best, and he is at the top of his game. He is making a lot of money. He has made way over a million. Do you have any idea how much he gets paid for each contest he podiums in or wins?? or magazine he's in, movies, appearances, shows, sponsors...many more....A company WILL pick tanner over someone more intelligent because Tanner has the name to promote their product. He CAN do it; he is doing it.

read above about white, symms. even that guy that plays football and is in moguls Bloom right? they are ripping in their shit and they're in skool. they may not be in the top 5 in their sport like tanner is (although defining a top 5 is getting harder) they will have a much better life once their competitive athletic careers end. his decision was important but chosen poorly in my opinion

yo sorry abou that ,I wrote that post when I was blazzed as hell, as for my english it is actually preety good but this is the internet so I don't really worry about my grammar and spelling while posting on a gay ski internet forum. What I was going to say was that I don't personaly think that school makes that much diference in your life if you drop out, certanly it can play an effect but if truely are gifted enough you will make it with out a piece of paper. As for tanner and candide dropping out ,come on they make way more than most people, + they can always go back to school when they are finished there ski carears. They won't be paying of student loans till they are 35 either. It seems to many people rely on a piece of paper to tell them they will do well in life.

I can see him crashing later if hes not smart with his money. If hes bothered to get someone to invest it for him, perhaps.. then hes set for life. If hes blowing it on shit that deteriorates in value, drugs, and whatever else thats worthless, i can see him crashing later. For now hes living the life.. I think a few people are just jealous :>

Who the fuck cares if someone has a high school education or not? I didn't learn shit in high school. By the time that Tanner is done skiing what he will have learned is how to use his name to make more money than he knows what to do with.

Second we've established that skiing till your 35 will not support you for the rest of your life unless there is something that you can continue to market (i.e ideas). Douglas can continue to have an impact because ppl respect what he says. with tanner, ppl respect his skill not his intelligence.

Third, aussiepimp, going back to school when u never really went when u were younger (Tanner) is near impossible cause you just wont like it, wanna do it, or in some cases be capable of it because uni is not like high school. you dont start off by reviewing previous years work for the first 3 months. u jump right into the new shit. Tanner would be lost
