At least he had the balls to follow his dreams. College will always be there, the oppertunity to be a professional skier wont. I would do the exact same thing, and after my career was over, Id go to school.

I don't know, but let's see.....Tanner does an extreme sport, there is a huge risk of injuring yourself badly enough that you can't make a living anymore skiing. What does he have to fall back on? Count the cost before you pursue you dreams, evaluated risks.

I read an article on the parents of some of the big name skiers and Tanners dad had two things he wished his son would do and that was finish school and not party so much. I think you go to school to help discover what you want to do, he wanted to become a professional skier . I may be wrong but I haven't noticed any professional freeskier majors at college. Life is short do what you can, the traveling he does is a much greater educational tool than sitting in a class looking at a book about the places he gets to go to. All that said everybody should graduate from high school cause Tanner is unique and not everybody has his talent and marketablity. Not to mention he is several years younger than me and makes a lot more cash than I do so I'm not going to pass judgement on him, his parents seem to be pretty smart helping him out like I hear they do. Kids can go far in life with parents that believe in them.

I dont know about you guys but once you leave school its hard as hell to go back. a friend of mine took a year off after high school and he still has not come to uni. I doubt tanner will finish his highschool diploma. He'll prolly take some college course when he's 40 and done with skiing. that is unless he saves some of the money he makes now.

I am a skier who made the decision to go to school, but I can guarantee you if I had X-Games Gold before I was out of HS I would have taken my chances making a living rolling blunts and getting paid to ski. How can you possibly fault Tanner for taking his talent and making a living off of it? There are very few people in this world who can say that they are the number one competitor in their sport; Tanner is one of them.

As for the rest of us poor bastards, an education can’t hurt.

Has anyone thought about the fact that Tanner has so much money he will never need a job in his life, and therefore would not need an education. It would be a waste of time for him because he wouldn't use it for anything. If I was where he was at sixteen I would drop out just as quick. The kid's set.

I think he did quit. I dont think its that bad if you want to go for your dream, which is his everyday life for him now. But then after skiing the only problem is theres nothing to do cept mc donalds. :)
