Tanner Halls says YOUR not acctually Skiing!

i havent seen a cliff on any of the mountains, or hills by my house. i think he should probably realize that many people dont have access to big mountains and pow.

You guys need to chill out and stop over-analyzing everything. I'll post my post again because 90% of this thread still doesn't get it.

A lot of you guys are over analyzing and taking what he said way too

literal. He's not expecting everyone to have a helicopter to do "real"

skiing. He's not expecting everyone to have the opportunity to ski

terrain like that. I think hes just SUGGESTING to some other guys that

hes known, respected, and been around for years to maybe take a step

back from frickin park, halfpipe, and learning new tricks. And take

some of their great skill to the backcountry and push a part of the

sport that has been so neglected by the majority of the Newschool scene

(except TGR, who is all about straightling shit and going fast). Not to

mention that the top pros in the park scene all have access to

helicopters and that type of terrain w/o much difficulty. Think if

events like this were around 5 years ago when they really should have?

What type of runs and support would be behind this type of competition?

It'd be huge!

He's not calling out and insulting people in such a negative fashion

like you over-analyzing NS addicts tihnk. Take a step back and realize

who is saying this and how he has done nothing but put positive vibes

and support into skiing.
 
so what is the 17 year old from maryland supposed to do? spend thousands so he can heli trip to mountains? no he will shred his backyard until his back goes out and his knees ache. god i just lost every last ounce of respect for tanner
 
If tanner wants to pay for ill ski out of a heli for the rest of my life

But if he doesn't im fine skiing park for the most part for 200 a year rather then like a grand for 1 day of heli skiing beacause i have a great time doing it and thats what skiing is about.
 
Tanner is the man, park is on the lower scale of difficulty compared to all aspects of skiing, go out and do you, if your having a good time then keep on
 
Working on this. Seems so much more... natural and real. Its back to the realest skiing that there is, no groomed runs made for you, no jumps or rails, no safety signs, no avalanche control, just you and the mountain.
And to the person above me who was complaining about costs.... You can ski in the BC for cheaper than resorts all season.
 
By the way, none of you know Tanner was high, drunk, whatever. Quit it with these pointless remarks.

Couldn't agree more with tanner. Skiing is about riding the whole mountain....but simon and the rest are good at their own aspects of skiing.
 
who fucking cares if he was high or drunk,,, he is a spectator at a ski comp. if i was sitting injured watching my homies ride, ide be blazing boozing and sharing it all

seriously. he goes on about how bad america is... and basically tells them they all suck, then goes on about how "we" are so much better. we being the french, swiss, austrians? aka NOT sean, CR and Tanner?? like he just groups himself in with other people. he bashes against guys he's hung out with, been in movies with, competed against. "Not half pipe, not slopestyle, not railjams" well tanner, thats a huge part of what you used to do! not half pipe? what about all the time spent training, working. are you just gonna say now that it was all "fucking ignant" or what?

i mean i love tanner. he's an amazing skier. but this shit makes no sense! he just made such a desperate dive to make it seem like "I'm cool and they're not!". like what is he trying to prove?

if skiing is all about being happy, being in the mountains and chilling and having fun, maybe he should do that. for someone who criticizes the "HATERS" all the time, he sure does do a whole lot of hating.

oh and he really is forcing an accent, its strange.

 
i personally think bc tricks/ big tricks off cliffs are the future but that doesnt make park any less legit. dammit tanner, every time i have respect for you again you say shit like this
 
i was thinking all those things. you cant bash on them for skiing park all the time. he used to do the same shit. nice accent too
 
First off, All of you may not like Tanner but you should at least respect the man for what he has done for the sport of skiing. I believe that he has made a huge mistake in calling out pro skiers and telling us what skiing is. Maybe that is what skiing is to him but to others it may have a different definition. Skiing is what we want it to be and not what someone else wants it to be. People will have a difference in opinions but we should at least respect each other's opinion.
 
i only ski park occasionally nowadays and i still thought that was a stupid rant. let people do what they want SHEESH
 
hahaha that dude is so stoked it's awesome. He can rant better than Adam Corolla. And when it comes to determining what REAL skiing is, I'll trust the advice of the guy that's been the best in practically every single aspect of skiing out there.

as much as i agree with him. what about the por kids that live on the east? thats the best they can get not everyone is blessed with rich ass parents tanner
 
he was a mogul skier first wasnt he? then park, then pipe. you literally cant get farther away from what he refers to as real skiing than that (moguls/park/pipe)
