Tanner Hall's Losing Reaction?

I agree with dude, tanner went a little overboard. You could tell his reaction was kinda pissed/congratulations, i dunno it just didnt seem genuine, like subtly sarcastic but trying to be the bigger man at the same time. Are they friends? IMO he could've handled it better, but at least he didnt sulk all night like dumont what was up with that?

tanner's over-celebration was completely unneeded. he really did try to steal the spotlight, Xavier didn't even get to celebrate for 45 seconds because tanner was screaming in his face. it's nice to get congratulated, but seriously, let the man have his OWN spotlight, without tanner in the way of the camera. he didn't need tanner to convince him to be stoked on his win, it was like tanner thought he had never competed before.

well put. many of you are simply trying to defend tanner, while not upholding bertonis accomplishment. he had the best run of the night, he deserves to be respected by the almighty tanner. not tackled and yelled at.

Wow. I can't even believe this stupid bullshit that I'm reading (this entire thread). Tanner was fucking stoked for Xavier. Tanner has given Xavier props for a couple years now, he has always recognized Xavier as a dope fucking skier. Tanner was nothing more than absolutely 100% stoked for him. Sure Tanner would have rather won but if you think he was pissed at Xavier when he won you need to open your fucking eyes. You people need to stop over analyzing shit and take it for what it is. GODDAMN!

everyone who thinks were hating on tanner and think hes a sore loser, youv got it wrong... go read my posts and triple strums post..... then make an opinion

I agree with Sox, Tanner is always 100% stoked on everything... he was not trying to hard, he was super pumped. Simon looked bummed but if you saw him after he was smiling. Remember Espn and tv only show you part of what is happening. Drama makes good tv, if it is sports or reality tv. Looks at footballs games they show the losing team looking at bummed and shit because that is what America wants to see. They want the reaction of people, they showed Simon walking away, then there was another cut of him putting on a bandana and he was smiling and stoked.

i haven't read all the way thru this thread so I'm sorry if this is a repeat, but any of you who are flaming Tanner have obviously never competed in a competition. Sure there is a little disappointment when you don't win first, but you are still stoked for the other guy...especially in a tight niche sport like freestyle skiing.

I've been unfortuntate enough to have gotten second place to a friend in a comp before and I've always still been stoked for him. If you aren't, you're a total douche bag, whiny bitch.

Would you have rather Tanner just said "Congrats dude", shook his hand, and walked away? God, I can only imagine what you would be saying if he did that. Quit fucking over analyzing things so much.

Congrats to all who competed. Stoked to watch you all ride.

OMG TANNER HALL IS SUCH A SORE LOSER!!!@!

OMG TANNER HALL IS SO FAKE!!@@#!

You guys need jobs or something. ANYTHING so that you have less time to worry about a pro skier who is just totally absolutely stoked for all of skiing, and being stoked on another's accomplishments.

All Tanner Hall cares about is skiing. He does not care about just himself. He just cares about skiing, and skiing being the best damn thing possibly.

Sure he may be a little out there, but he always has been, and always will be like that. The guy just straight up breathes skiing.

As for Dumont, look at what his best friend is going through, and put yourself in that situation. You wouldn't be overly stoked on life either.

I must say at first I kinda thought Tanner went a lil crazy seeing Bertoni doesnt understand too much english. he was prolly like damn, but the more I thought about it was just Tanner doing his thing and showing the love he has for the sport. Bertoni's run was sick and Tanner was pumped!

yeah i watched it and it seemed more chilled out, except i thought it was funny when he said that his hard work is rubbing off on others.

ummmmm did you not see the massive, or the first stop of the dew tour. i dont think that statement will be relevant for another few years.

but i definitely thought tanner handled it badly. it really seemed like he was trying to steal the spotlight, but whatever, i still think hes cool

your little sports analogy isn't realistic. it would be more like you, an amateur athlete, coming up and wrecking Michael Jordan in the fucking face, and then him being so absolutely stoked for you he shows it in the most intense/sincere way possible.

and whoever mentioned the dogpile thing, so true.

and the kid who said bertoli on the first page. lol, i know what your thinking.

This thread...
Jesus. I can't believe this. Tanner was SOOOO stoked for Xavier. This win was big for skiing on a global level and Tanner understands that. When we go to the IOC asking for an Olympic bid we're going to claim Xavier's win for sure because it shows that skiing is not a North American sport, it's global.

Please, please, please DON'T RUIN THIS MOMENT IN SKIING HISTORY with stupid threads. Love the stoke, savor the moment, and go skiing. Last night was a huge moment. I'm stoked.

OMG people!! Can't anyone on here just take things for what they are? Tanner was stoked that Xavier was able to beat them! Honestly, I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread about Tanner eating spaghetti with a spoon instead of a fork or something(Just and example, not true). No matter what a person does people always have a way to turn it around and look down on them.

you guys are a bunch of silly sallys.

i thought it was so sick to see how stoked tanner was for xavier. theres a new wave of pipe skiers takin over, and obviously tanners super stoked on that. i love it how stoked he is on other people doing there own thing and pushin it, particularly the new generation of killas. T is da man. BOOYAKASHALAKA!

silly haters.

Ok, tanner did jump on bertoni and all that but he wasnt the only one. Roland was jumpin about with him as well! Granted those 2 are mates (Roland and Bertoni) and whatever but lets stop hatin on the pros for every little thing they do that pisses you off!! Check JOs newest videoblog. Theres a bit of tanner right at the end and you can tell hes genuinely stoked for the guy!

he probably didnt mean to knock him over and when he did he had to try and make it look like he did so people didnt freak out on him.. idk but either way props to all three of them

Bertoni was probably stunned. If tanner was hyping me after winner the X-games, most coveted contest of all extreme sports contests if we all remember, I would has reacted the same way. I think Tanner was genuinely stoked for him. He's the first person besides Simon that has really rivaled him over the course of the past few years. That just how pro's are welcomed into stardom. haha

of all the things at the X Games we could be arguing about, you all had to pick this?

who gives a fuck? let's talk more about the skiing and less about whether or not we think Tanner being stoked for Bertoni was in good taste.

queers.

im just going to put this im simple newschoolers terms.

If you are hating on tanner hall you are a FAGGOT.

/end the thread jesus.

ok heres my opinion on it all, but i did not actually see it, just gathering everything after reaidng a fair amount of the posts. I think tanner, although not intentionally, did try to get himself in the spotlight, but NOT TAKE IT. sure, he may have been stoked for bertoni, but im sure he wasnt as stoked as he would have been if he won. and if i recall correctly, in winter X 11, when simon dumont threw down what i would call the best run i have ever seen, before the judging results came in, t hall very slowly and humbly walked up to simon, arms spread, and gave him a hug. watching a video commentary on that later, Hall said he at the point knew dumont just took 1st place. this does not sound like the usual tanner reaction. I really do think he wanted to be in that spotlight, whether or not he wanted to be alone, or with beroni, i cant say.
and remmeber, this is an opinion so dont get all pissy about it, and that goes for the enitre thread
respect to all of the riders, including hall, such a sick run

His reaction was a little over the top but I thought that "Dude you just won the X games!" was pretty funny. Plus Rolland and someone else were jumping all over him and punching him and shit too so who cares.

Seriously? He was stoked for Xavier. I think he was stoked because he had to know that the X-games played up on himself and Dumont. That was just a way of telling telivision that there is another up and coming star that will be here for many years competing with other athletes at the top of there game. making it the "BIG 2" to the "BIG 3."

honestly the worst part was that reporter chick who like jumped on bertoni even after he said he doesnt speak english. she kept asking questions, the look on his face was priceless he was totally like wtf qui est this bitch

I think it was him being cool I was actually realy stoked to see his reaction to losing to someone who wasnt even looked at like a real contender at gold in the time heading up to the event.

I didn't wanna see Tanner's face when Bertoni won.

I wanted to see Bertoni.

Tanner overreacted.

It was forced.

It happened two days ago and it's no longer worth getting heated about.

Furthermore - calling people "fucking retards" or "fags" isn't necessary either. Never makes your point more correct or someone's opinion more incorrect.

the reason we care.. "I" care about this, is because for once, tanner did not win the xgames, but it came off like he did, which is why this thread exists. it's really genuine of him to be SO stoked for xavier, but seriously, what the fuck was he thinking, he didn't even let him say anything until he was done with the 15 seconds of fame of yelling in his face that he stole.... jesus everyone, we're not hating on tanner, he skied amazingly and got second and was stoked for someone to ski even better than him... so the righteous thing is to let that person be able to express his emotions about it without tackling him and yelling over him, all the while as a stranger and blocking his good friend friend from sharing a moment... it was awkward and unneeded. there are better ways to be stoked for someone.... that was not a respectable one.. especially to an almost complete stranger who can barely understand the interview questions.

Whoever here, on this site, that would not want Tanner Hall of all fucking people to start a dogpile on them and be stupid ass stoked for them after they just won X games just does not love skiing, and should therefore leave this site.

So it was over-the-top? when is tanner hall NOT over-the-top? he's ALWAYS been that way. Get over it people. It was genuine, it was awesome for the sport, and everybody who came into my ski shop today who watched it, even the older guys thought it was the coolest thing they had ever seen.

I'm not a huge fan of Tanner at all, but last night he gained a lot of respect from me, and apparently from many other kids in this room. Like was said before PLEASE DONT FUCK THIS UP FOR US.
