Alright, theres been a LOT of talk of this in the past, but i must know peoples opinions here. Why does everyone think Tanner Hall is the greatest skiier in the world?

Skiing is not limited to park only. Thats only half of skiing right there, maybe not even half. If you say skiing is nothing but park, then you are omitting props to people such as Seth Morrison and Hugo Harrison, who rarely, if much ever anymore, go the park. Just because some doesn't compete and go for everything doesn't make that person a bad skier. Look at Anthony Boronowski, one of the most (in my opinion) under-rated skiers in the world, who gets very litle props and attention simply because he shuns competition and park-only skiing. Those that don't compete are often forgotten.

It goes the other way too, though. Others of you say Seth Morrison is the best skier in the world. And he may be the best big mountain skier in the world, yes, but his park skills still aren't as developed as others. And I know there will be probably ten of you that say 'well what about his ________ (fill in with swtch rodeo 7, lincoln loop, etc) off of a cliff' and to that I say that is awesome, but when was the last time you saw Seth Morrison ripping it up at the US Freeskiing Open?

You cant call someone who a master of skiing until they've mastered all the aspects of skiing. Henrik Winstedt is a fine example of one who has conquered all. And Ill probably see fifteen or twenty replies about TJ Schiller, who is very rad, but still...he needs to show off the full extent of his skills before anyone can claim him to be the 'best'. And no, the Ultimate Bumps and Jumps does not determine the best skier in the world One competition can't do that.

So I am asking all of you NS'ers out there, why must you continue to think of Tanner Hall as the best skier in the world, when he obviously isn't?

^ this is not a rip on Tanner Hall by any means. Tanner has incredible par skills and is without a doubt the top slopestyle skier in the world. This is simply my question to all of you on why you continue to think he is the best.

I think you can safely say that Tanner is the best skier when it comes to the park, but yeah, that doesn't mean he is the best 'skier.'

And I've contrived some sort of a plan to help my fellow man..

i read the first few sentences. i doubt anybody says he's the best all around skier. they say he's the best park skier. they think he's the smoothest and throws the best tricks.

everyone thinks hes the best cus not that many people are into watching big mountain skiing, and half the people in the east coast have no idea how hard shit that seth morrison and hugo harrison do

 
i would say someone like jon olsson is the best. he can

1. race

2. ski big mountain

3. rip up the park

hardly any skiers are proficient in all 3 of those categories.

ill be super rich and own mt.hood and let everybody from ns ski for free... except freezed

I am so sick of this shit. Who cares, and why do you guys spend so much time analyzing these kids. Especially with the Tanner shit. He IS the best all around skier I have ever met. He was an incredible mogul skier and is becoming a great big mountain skier on top of the fact that he is the best true park skier alive. Just wait and see, the kid is the most talented athlete I have ever known. Wait and see what he films and does this year. Not one of you fucks could touch him on any level of skiing, so deal with it. He will continue to stay on top of the game.

who cares, there are a ton of sick skiers, so many kids out there who are sick, not everyone can get the exposure that a lot of pros get, who cares, we're all still skiing and hopefull havin fun......no need to decide who's the best.

i don't know if any of us sitting behind our computers can really decide who the best all around skier is. its all a judgement call and therefore based on opinion. the only way to determine the best all around skier would be to make an event that combines racing, big mountain, bumps, park, urban, and any other aspect of skiing that you can think of, telemark maybe, cross country too. then, MAYBE you could decide who the best is. i frankly don't care who the best is, skiing is skiing.

Well, I because no one talks about Anthony B. Doesn't mean noone likes him. The industry obviously is into him or else he would not have recieved the first part in X. But It could also be cause he wears tight pants...and acording to the kids on this site, if you wear tight pants your GAY!!!! yeah GAY. anthony B. is sick and the people that matter in the industry know that. Forgett about the punk little kids on this site.

Jon would probably rip mostly anything that has 'ski' in its name.... But I must admit that yetigonecrazy has a good point on this one... To many people comes up wiht things like: T Hall is the best in the world and stuff like that and totally forgetting legends like Seth Morrison and Hugo Harrison.. I say more mountain skiing competitions and programs on TV...

my post is not to decide who the best is and who isnt best. Im simply trying to point out to people like ATLANTASKI that Tanner isnt the 'best'. There is no best. If there was, we'd know it. I think Jon Olsson is closer than anyone else because he does EVERYTHING, moguls, booters, pipe, rails, big mountain, AND gates, but I dont think Jon is the absolute best. Im sick of all this 'park-only' bullshit that everyone seems to be fokused on. Theres more to it than tables and rails. I just want to know how people can get their motivation to say hes the best in the world when he, nor anyone else, truly is. He's a good skier, nothing more, nothing less. He's not a god, hes not skiing's headman, he's just another good skier.

it really is hard to saywho the best is, but to say tanner is the best slopestyle skier...im going to have to say no to that one too. jon is a better skier in moguls and big mtn. and can easily...that is a good word, easily run w/ tanner in the park. no, this is not me saying jon is the best, im just providing an example as to why tanenr is not.

 
it depends where you live. here on the eastcoast skiing is park for me.

^ word, and i respect the east coast, but you also must understand, to us out west, park skiing is only one third or fourth of the sport, and so to us it makes a big difference.

out west it's only 1 fourth of skiing..... shut up dude. You think you're all cool and shit because you ski lift serviced natural terrain. If park skiing is only 1 fourth what is the other 75%?
