Tanner hall vs travis rice...

my boyfriend and i got into an argument today (he is a snowboarder)...he asked me how the skiing community felt about t hall and i said most respect him because he is retardedly good, some think hes gay for whatever reason...then he was like well do you think hes surpasses the technicality of travis rices riding? he was like "can t hall cork 1080"...it was annoying. anyway what do you think.
 
T Hall can slay pretty much every single aspect there is of freeskiing. Travis Rice is basically the T Hall of snowboarding. /thread
 
both are sick, tanner is a sick athlete and can do anything. travis can shred backcountry booters better for sure and maybe tanner is better at rails. there both god.
 
tanner would destroy travis at street. travis's rail game used to be sick, but i dont know what its like these days. having said that, i think trice is better. but i shred so i'm biased. and as to your comment about the dub cork, travis is responsible for the dub cork/flip craze
 
I might say Travis Rice just because the movies he puts out are so amazing. T Hall's movies are sick too, but like last year for example, Rice's movie was obviously and by far the best snowboard movie of the year, and The Massive was completely sick, but not the best of the year IMO. I'd rather blaze a fat jay with T Hall though and thats what really counts.
 
this is stupid. they are the same people, just in different sports. its like trying to compare Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky
 
Tanner has done some pretty crazy sh*t in the BC too remember...... so i'm not convinced by the Travis is better in the BC just becuase of booters built with sled access..... Tanner is first and foremost an incredible skiier.... all mountain, pow, trees, big mountain, park etc etc.... he is the COMPLETE rider....

that said, i'm staying firmly placed sat right here on this comfy fence...

Travis Rice no contest. Snowboarding is harder that skiing. face it. i used to snowboard and now i ski so i would know.

and maybe compared to each other t hall might seem better, but look at what t hall is to the skiing world and then look at what travis rice is to the snowboarding world.
look at thats it thats all, then look at the massive. TITA blew minds, The massive was aight, but no big

If they made a FULL LENGTH Ski/Snowboard Film T.Hall v. T.Rice it would be the most epic thing ever... especially if RedBull forked over heavy cash for it.

They could call it Trannis Hace or something... I dunno. Do it!

trice, no question. just cause of his movie. i just got the vibe down to my soul about his riding, way more than anything tanner has ever put out.

Pretty much. Travis is throwing double rodeos over 130+ foot gaps. Tanner isn't even coming close to that.
 
Both have done the most out of any athletes for their respected sports.
Travis Rice said "For as long as Im able, I will snowboard until the day that I die" .. Or something like that.VSTanner Hall, is one leg injury away from perhaps ending his career.
at the current rate both athletes are pushing their sports, Travis will be able to go on longer and push his sport farther bcoz he will live (or be able to ride) longer than Tanner.
Travis wins.
That being said:Tanner is most winningness rider or the two.Travis made a better movie.Travis More FlipsTanner cooler style (I think)Tanner has overcome more to get where he has, Travis quickly rose to the top and has been their since.......
 
Travis Rice is better at flipping and spinning off insanely huge booters. Tanner is better at every other aspect of snow riding. Their "areas of expertise" are just different.
 
Does it matter. And you can't compare 2 different people that do 2 different sports

All that really matters is that they are progressing there sports as much as possible and I respect that.

A few years ago, I would have said Travis no doubt. At that time I would have said CR Johnson was a better comparison, someone who had won xgames medals and then moved more into the backcountry/big mountain arena. CR got hurt, and has been trying to get back to where he was. He still rips, and we may see him get even better than he was before the injury. I would really like to see that.

However, in the last few years Tanner has made huge strides outside the park. He has become a great big mountain skier, slaying lines in AK and pillows in BC, while mixing spins into lines. Anyone who says Tanner is just a park skier has no idea what he is talking about. I would put Travis ahead on backcountry kickers, but I don't know if he is still ahead of THall at ripping big lines. They are both sick, and very close.

Watching Believe and The Massive shows just how far Tanner has come. He is not Seth Morrison yet, but on a couple of his lines in Believe I would have believed someone if they had told me it was Seth and not Tanner. That says a lot.
 
I have to give it to Tanner, because to me the Switch 9 over Chad's is more technical than Travis' Rodeo, Tanner's Double in the Pipe (Less air time) is more technical than a Double in Big Air (More air time), the Kangaroo Flip that Tanner throws in the new TGR movie is on par if not cleaner than any Kang' Jon Olsson has thrown, and Tanner's Double Back keep getting better every year (He keeps opening up more). Although I have to give respect to Travis' triple attempt in That's It, That's All, but I think Turpin's attempt was a little better. I believe skiing is on par if not about to surpass snowboarding. Urban, Slopestyle, Pipe, BC, AK Lines. Sorry for taking skiing's side, but I AM A SKIER.

its pretty much split even as far as people on here think, and this is a ski forum, therefore giving tanner the bias.

if tanner can only split even with the bias in his favor, think about the rapeage travis would ensue on a snowboard forum, or an unbias gamer forum or something like that..

Think about this though, a greater percentage of skiers who are serious have an awareness of what is going on in snowboarding than vice versa. That is part of the reason Travis would dominate in a poll on a snowboard site. You could probably name a lower level pro in snowboarding, someone clearly beneath Tanner, and he would still dominate in a poll on a snowboard site.

There are numerous people who THINK they know what is going on in snowboarding, frequent snowboard message boards, and don't think anyone skis anymore. They think everybody who is serious snowboards. That could not be further from the truth, and most boarders who feel that way SUCK. Boarders who frequent places like Squaw and Jackson have respect for skiers, because they see enough great skiers around that they cannot deny that skiing is legit. Most of the boarders who rag on skiing do so because they suck. They usually board at pathetic little mountains in Southern California like Snow Summit. They don't have enough knowledge of how the mountains really are to form a well thought out opinion. For these reasons I don't see the fact that Travis would dominate a poll on a boarding website as particularly relevant. I don't think it adds any evidence to Travis' case.

Most people on an action sports website would probably put Shawn White over Tanner, which would be absurd. Shawn White needs to dominate outside the park to be relevant in a TRice/THall way.
