this message is for you…. can you please use your clout and passion to put

together an event that is a cross between the Jon Olsson Super Sessions and the

Travis Rice Natural Selection. This event would allow gnardawgs and

backcountry slayers like you to showcase our sport breaking away from the usual

and bringing the park sickness to the backcountry.

The

only thing that may prevent this idea from happening is that you’d have to let

other shralpers in on your secret stashes.

Everyone else let Tanner know how stoked you’d be for

this event.
 
let me know when tanner signs on ns, goes to ski gabber, reads this thread, and says "hey thats a good idea, why dont i listen to a kid with 6 posts and have a taner hall invitationl" since he is totally the jon olsson type of person to do that.

i think the kid has a good idea. does the fact that he has 6 posts mean that it is a bad idea? no. do i think this will happen, no, but it is still a good idea.

and i am having a bad night as well.

i was at a party, po came, out of everyone their, i got cought driving off. pig took a carton of smooths from me, and left. and i found out that this girl im talking to is hanging out with this poon pirate from my school... whats your story?
 
Man....... I saw this thread and thought that maybe somehow by the good graces of god this was actually happening... and now I'm bummed. But yea, it would be a super sweet competition that could push skiing to new level. But Tanner doesn't really seem like the event coordinator type to me, although it never hurts to hope.
 
they did a comp like that this year in BC the one with thee man made features on the big mtn lines, and then the mountainearing part like skin up and ski down, but yeah this actually sounds like a great idea and im surprised it has never been thought of, it would kind of be hard due to weather and snow conditions but it could def work
 
DOO IT! DO IT DO IT! DO IT! Have kids make vids and send um in, back country lovers only. I would be more than down to putting a ton of energy and time into making an edit to get myself up there... really a lot of energy.

Yeah I just think kids on the East Coast would have a little disadvantage. It's still all about creativity though and working with what you got, so I guess some true talent would show through.

Do it. I dont think Karl will be able to contain his excitement if this goes down. You might wanna give him the day off.
 
i personally dont like the idea of backcounrty competitions. to me it doesnt seem like pow skiing is supposed to have competition, and i think it shoud stick to the park.
 
The idea of a backcountry comp there doesn't sound that great to me, but everyone has their own opinion. I think it would be sick if he did have some contest (similar to superunknown) where the winning video received an invite to go shred Retallack for a week and maybe get a few shots for his next movie. Every update that I have seen from there everyone is having so much fun.
 
It might take away from the enjoyment of going out to get shots under pressure, if the conditions were gnar, so many variables...

I mean the idea of having a crew of people rent out a heli-ski / cat-ski operation and run a muck in the backcountry already happens when they make a movie. The back 9 was cool but the overhead would be enormous.
 
ohhhhh shit. tanner is the man. this would be so fucking sick. that kid from AK throwing the cork 10s of cliffs is going to be happy
