Tanner hall pwns a newb

I guess I would just say, then, that the issue I have is where he says he is all about being positive and not negative, when his response seems to be contrary. That is what made his response seem stupid to me. If he wanted to just be a brash dick back to a kid who deserves it, then do it. The kid did deserve it, there is no question. But prefacing that by saying how he is all about living positively, to me, makes him sound dumb. The irony that was in that message for me didn't happen for others. Just the way it is. Maybe it isn't even about being a better role model, just that his response didn't seem to mess with what I would expect from someone who, as he said, is about positivity, role model or not.

Again, it is a stupid myspace message in response to another stupid message, so I could really careless. To me, he sounded dumb. If he didn't to others, sweet. I posted how I felt about his response, wasn't meant to go further than that. That is really all there was to it. I am not going to lose sleep over it either way.

I would add that I have never talked shit about him partying or what not on here, but have seen lots of it, so I can understand the feelings associated with it. NS is like a huge high school scene where everyone talks shit about everyone. Just the nature of the game. It sucks, but it would be hard to change it. I don't think it is so much that people want to act like angry parents, more that it gives them juicy shit to talk about on here.
 
Pro skiers can't be normal people because they make their living off of people looking up to them. People don't want to look up to a normal person. They want to look up to a hero -- somebody who is better than they are in every way. So when an idol does something characteristic of a normal person, his fans are disappointed. The fans ostracize the transgression of their idol in order to maintain a sense of balance. I.e. they want to continue to admire their idol; but at the same time, they want to make it abundantly clear, to others and to themselves, that they idolize only the part that is better, and not the part that is a "normal person." PS I am only answering Doug's question here. I make no opinion on this little Tanner situation.

It's a bummer that these conversations almost always center on Tanner, because I think its a good topic for discussion, but there's only so much you can say about a myspace messaging.

Hall is. If you will take a gander at Tanner Halls Myspace page, the

comments are nothing but an all you can eat buffet of suck ups and saps

telling Tanner how great he is and how they love him, and how they

should party together and blah blah blah. Obviously Tanner is an

amazing skier, I have admired him since “Happy Dayz”, I commented on

his page asking him why he sucked so much, thinking that like any

intelligent individual he would recognize it as sarcasm and either

write me back a smart ass remark, or at least get a good chuckle out of

it. I thought it was funny that he took it so seriously and wrote me

back this scathing remark (props to him for being able to type in

Ebonics as well). So yea, I am fully aware that you will all continue

being drama hounds here on NS, but personally I thought it was cool

that Tanner hall even wrote me a comment back, How many of you can say

that huh? Anyway, Peace out NS.

 
This is just like the Sammy bowling thing. You guys think people arent going to act like every other person in the world would. Despite Tanners pro status, hes still a damn human, its not like hes going to act like a robot to the entire world. Obviously hes shown some 'colorful' sides to him, e.g. the IF3 awards, but hes just another person, and it isnt surprising that he would argue something back.
 
the message was stupid, but tanner's response was dissapointing, it was like, embarassing to read. i mean there's nothing wrong with tanner hating back, but i definately dont think it was very funny or impressive, certainly nobody got pwn3d.
 
Im pretty sure that Tanner operates his own myspace, just like Sammy and Seth Morrison. They both operate there own myspace.I dont see why Tanner wouldnt.

Because everyone was sucking up to him on his facebook so he wanted to mix it up, I'm not promoting his actions, nor condoning, merely observing.

It seems like he would have other stuff to do then let kids get to him on facbook.

I really don't care about his grammar actually, I get lazy on here, but when he goes to extra effort to type like that, I find it amusing, don't you?
