well i think your friend is stupid for sending that message in the first place, but i also find it funny how tanner writes at almost a grade 2 level

and obviously he was not serious, a lot of you need to calm down and take it lightly
 
Tanner has to be one of my favorite pro skiers, he's the only one that can get paid by park city to sit in one of their new developments and then take the same tricks hes been doing since he was 19 into the backcountry. No wonder he took such a response to a kid asking him why he sucked, he does nothing but lay around with his park rat buddies. I would too if i had as much free time as hes given himself. Go pep
 
first the kid who said that is stupid, dont tell pros they suck

second, tanner is awesome, he doesnt try to be a jerk he just points out the kids wrongs.

honestly...his response seemed as stupid as the message the kid sent him. Except we know that the message was sent to tanner in a joking fashion, while tanner response was likely serious coming back.

I dunno...he just sort of sounds like an idiot in it to me.
 
I used to think he was a tool also.  However, this summer he rolled into the olympic park for a training session on the ramps.  He warmed up on the tramp with a bunch of the local kids.  He took the time to meet and greet them as well as coach them for a while before he really got into doing his thing.  That gets my respect...that and his sickness not only on skis but on the tramp as well

People need to get the fuck off their high horses and stop hating on guys like Tanner so much. I mean its so fucking childish to go onto someone's myspace and send a "you suck" message. This is exactly the kind of behaviour that makes people dismiss this site as a bunch of stupid 12-year old kids. How the hell do you expect the guy to know that it was a joking fashion? I mean do you even think it is funny to just message someone "you suck"? Fuck that, its not a joke, thats just e-hate. Don't pretend to be all high and mighty defending some kid that messages a guy "you suck" and then gets some hate back.

I mean come on, what would you do if you went on the internet and heard all these kids bitching about everything it is that you do?

Fuck that... leave the guy alone, and yeah you got put the fuck in your place by him. That guy is killing it, and his life is in a really good place. Dammit guys, come off it and realise that not everything in the world requires hating.

Seriously... this is starting to really get to me.

 
It's funny because I was doing just that when I clicked on "next page" in a thread about a fucking myspace message. Does anyone really give a shit about this? Just take a step back and think about how much it really matters to you what Tanner Hall says in a myspace message.
 
I guess that was my point. The message sent by the kid was exactly that: childish. It was pointless and stupid and was as you describe, just typical internet hating, which is a position that tanner is sadly in much of the time. I am not condoning that message at all or trying to defend the kid who wasted his and tanner's time sending it.

The point I made is that his response back seems as childish as receiving the message. He is a professional skier, one of the best in the world, and he knows this. He knows he doesn't suck and he knows that the reason people send him pointless messages like that is to get a rise out of him, to see what he will really do. I have seen him repeatedly talk about how he doesn't care what people think of him anymore, which is great, because he shouldn't.

But if that is the case, what good does it do to take shots back at the kid? My response had nothing to do with the kid sending the message, because the message is pointless hating. My response has to do with the fact that tanner shouldn't be responding to pointless provocative hate with hate, in my opinion. I figured he of all people would be professional and either just ignore the message or respond with something a little less childish.

The point of my post is that if his life is about, and I quote:

"MY LIFE IS IN

A WHOLE NOTHER DIRECTION

ALL ABOUT POSITIVITY AND

UPLIFTMENT."

then he shouldn't be responding with stuff like this, following directly after the above statement:

I FEEL FOR YOU!!!!!

Again, he says in his response that he is sorry that this kid has to put people down to feel better about him self in a sentence where he does exactly that to the kid who sent the message. While that kid deserves it, that just seems childish and hypocritical and unprofessional. The kid sending the message is a douche, but the words the Tanner replies with hold a little more merit. Whether he knows it or not, he is always in the spotlight. Case in point, this particular myspace interaction. It was a stupid message send on myspace, one he thought probably wasn't a big deal, but now look, it is on NS and being viewed and discussed by many.

Funny, though, as it seems to have conjured more Tanner love that hate, so maybe it really isn't an issue.

To me though, it just seems like a strange statement to put out at all as a professional athlete, myspace or not. He is what...24 years old now? I, personally, would have expected a different response from him and was disappointed to see the one he sent.

My opinion means shit I guess, but to me, I care more about the thoughts and actions of Tanner much more than some douchebag kid whose message I could careless about. Tanner is the pro skier, the icon, the one who have thousands of kids looking up to him. Hating back on a kid at all, especially when he states that he is

"ALL ABOUT POSITIVITY AND UPLIFTMENT" just doesn't work for me.

So yeah, hopefully that explains it. Not trying to hate on him or talk shit, as I don't feel like I ever have on here. I just think that his response didn't make sense to me.
 
To me the problem here is this point... why aren't pro skiers allowed to be normal people?

I mean the hate for getting drunk... the bashing because he should "be a better role model" or more mature or whatever.... like seriously when did NS become the parents forum?

I'm older than many of you by a good 10 years... some of you I'm probably double your age... so how come you're scolding the guy for rocking out a little?

Pro skiers are just people. We're in a sport thats all about having fun and being young... so why do we have to act like angry parents? Aren't we supposed to be all rebellious and shit?

Trust me... you've got a lot longer in life to worry about how someone is acting as a role model. You'll have your own kids one day and can stress about this stuff. Don't waste it now...

Hell I miss the days where rockstars were fucking rockstars... doing heroine, coke, drinking heavily and destroying the place. I'm stoked on pros and athletes and famous people who are fucking hooligans... thats the release from real life I'm looking for. If i want to hold these people to high standards of being a proper role model with good christian values I'll go into politics or start watching the olympics or something.
