recently i was reading a magazine that was about a year old and i saw tanner hall in an article on back country. no not kickers jumps or rails, back country. Back country is one area i dont think tanner hall should be involved in, as i read the article under the picture of tanner hall ripping it up in the pow i noticed that the author shared the same feelings with me. come on tanner hall. please stay in the park, to summarize i hate seeing tanner hall in the back country or the park, does anyone else feel this way or does everyone idolize tanner as if he were jesus.
 
I think that hes a sick skier all around. I have heard by a few friends that he rips stupid retarded lines, like he just bombs the mountain like none other. I hear hes a really sick big mountain skier. I also think that hes a sick big mountain skier. Why shouold he only stay in the park, hes mastered the park for the time being, well maybe not mastered but it sick at it. I think it will be cool to see how he does in big mountain. I wish him the best of luck!! Okay , thats my two cents.
 
He is pretty cool, does what he wants. He has just as much right to ski some fresh as anyone, given he has the nessecary tools and knowledge. I also think he can be just as big of a douche as anyone. Its not everyday someone drops out of school to make hundreds of thousands of dollars, not many people realize he rides like it is his job (I guess it is). The kid is always out there.
 
I dont like tanner as a person because everyone tells me hes a dick, but i like skiers that can rip the whole mountain and i think its sick thats hes so good at both park and big mountain
 
Not meaning to rip on you but you should like a person for what you think not what you think of what your friends tell you.

Why shouldn't he ride what and where he wants? I would FFS! No limitations... that's why I don't have both feet planted on one board. muahahaaa
 
tanner is an awesome all around skier, and dont say he shouldnt be in the backcountry. he rapes some BC lines, just watch believe.
 
i never said he sucks at it, i just don't like him and i wanted to see if everyone else did, no hate in this thread please, or at least keep it to a minimum
 
Threadstarter - you are forever a fucktard in my mind. Tanner kills the big mountain - have you seen "believe" so damn good, one of my favortie movies of the year, and Tanner is truly impressive in the BC. He also just recently purchased Retallack Lodge with Seth and some other rippers, so i'm pretty sure he is not quitting big mountain anytime soon. If i was as big as Tanner i would never ski park, he gets to ski the sickest pillow lines in the world, and there is no better feeling in skiing than perfect endless pow drops.

just let him ski what he wants to ski. And hes obliviously pushing the sport in both directions as far as park and back country goes.
 
yeah, i have not seen believe, i will get right on that, maybe what everyones saying is true and hes amazing at it, i guess my opinion is somewhat changed, so i never did say he sucked but i guess he is lucky and i would be skiing that deep pow if i ad the chance too.

Tanner Hall is one of the most talented and successful (competition wise) skiers of this time. He has won countless competitions and kills in the backcountry. He has some of the best segments I have ever seen, and is pushing the sport in the right directions. I believe he is a misunderstood guy, but after reading his interview in the latest copy of Freeskiier magazine I have a better understanding about him.

Tanner is one of my favorite pro skiers, if not favorite. He sometimes brings a negative image to the sport, but his actions overall make him a great icon for our sport.

seriously he rips hard in believe, his backcountry skiing was absolutly redic. i do understand where your coming from tho.
 
for sure he's a sick skier, but I dont think his attitude off the hill really helps the sport. as far as I know, getting piss-drunk and having violent and rude verbal outbursts is a hobby of his... which I am not a fan of. people might not hate a sport (such as snowboarding) for the actual sport, but rather for the image around it, and the activities associated with it. why should drinking and being unruly be tied to skiing, as thall may make it seem.
 
would you choose a park over pow?

im sure tanner is just like 95% of us out there and would much rather be catskiing than lapping the park.
 
After the dubski era I really havn't dug T$'s style, and I don't like his out of part riding style at all. Amazing skier, but not as good as he was before.
 
hahaha. who the fucks cares. Let people ski what they want. It doesn't affect you at all, in any way shape or form.
 
this thread basicly is hate on tanner. I also think that it sucks and do not agree with your opinion in the slightest. Im not a huge fan of tanner but he is one of the sickest overall skiers. ESPECIALLY in backcountry in my opinion he is the best at freestyle in the backcountry, just watch his switch cork nines off cliffs or crazy pillow lines

you're really a year and a half behind things, mang... Tanner's been pushing big mountain for a season or two now and excelling at it. he's a damn good skier no matter where he goes, so why doesn't he belong in the big mountain arena? he's clearly more than a park rat and is good at applying the skills he's learned in the park to the rest of the mountain, so there's really no reason i can think of that he "doesn't belong" in the big mountains.
 
he kills it in the backcountry. I'd rather take advice from him on the backcountry than some other pro skiers
 
It really doesn't matter if you love him or hate him (although no one should be judging until you actually meet the guy). The times I have been around him I was very impressed. For instance at the olympic park, he trains his ass off and totally kills on the tramps and water ramps and has been doing so for a long time, and is super mellow while doing it. As far as the BC stuff goes, he is one of the greatest skiers alive. He can ski anywhere and always be one of the best. Believe was absolutely sick, pretty much on the top of my list this year. I don't think anybody should be bashing on someone who has done so damn much for the sport a lot of us live for...
 
i haven't seen belive but i think the best skiers are one that ski everything, park, bc, uban and biglines. as far as i can see tanner is moving away from park and urban a bit and i don't like it, big lines aren't really the sort of thing i enjoy watching in videos.
 
i think that tanner is a great all around skier and i thikn it is cool that he can shred the whole montain, not just the park but for some reason i just dont like his whole attitude or his persona but tahts just my opion
