So Tanner is back on that Candide level shit.. now his new movie promises to be quite amazing, he also has said he wants to come back to competing. So here are my questions to you as a community..

What was a more gnarly trick on chads gap.. the switch 900 he landed before he broke his ankles or the double back flip he landed this winter?

Will tanner compete in pipe or slope or both?

Will tanner attempt the almost impossible and make a bid for the 2018 Olympic half pipe team. Can he win over Torrin , David Wise and Kevin Rolland ?( please take note that David Wise is 32 years old and still probably one of the top 3 pipe skiers in earth.. so it is possible to be winning pipe comps at 35) I personally think tanners best shot is in the pipe and that slope style isn't worth is as the potential injuries asscocated with it aren't worth his time..
 
Agreed he should Defs go for pipe. I don't know how stoked Tanner would be on the poltics surrounding the Olympics. When I think of Tanner, I think no bullshittery, and straight ill tricks. Either way mad ups to him for wanting to get back into it.
 
The switch 9 was undoubtedly more impressive and gnarly. Going into Chad's switch is a whole other level. Especially when it hasn't been done before.
 
Switch 9 was gnarlier for sure, bet he'll compete in slope and pipe but I doubt he'll beat out pipe jocks like Torrin and David to make the olympics tho.
 
Oh, definitely the double-back. Dozens of guys could do switch 9s over Chad's. Only Tanner could double-back it. That's why no one else has done the double back until now. Not even Chris Collins or Mike Wilson.
 
No way Tanner would hold a candle in slope. He just learned dub 10's into an air bag and the olympics will take both way triples, switch triples, etc.

His only shot would be in pipe, but there is no way. He would have to beat out Torin, Gus, Taylor Seaton, Aaron Blunck, Alex Fiera, David wise.... young bucks like Lennon Vaughn and I bet Wing Tai Barrymore comes out and goes fucking massive. There is just no way Tanner makes the Olympic team.

Personally, I would love to see him compete on the big mountain scene. He has been crushing massive lines in Alaska and BC for like a decade + and I think he could throw down some flossy shit out there.

What you say about Tanner and Candide is pretty valid. In my opinion, Tanner is of equal status as Candide.

Tim Durtschi either dub rodeo 9d/kang flipped it or did a dub 10 over it like 6 years ago.

I can't remember but he did some kind of dub over it. Or fuck, was that pyramid?

I'm old I dunno, but I think plenty of people could dub backflip chads in 2017 (and by plenty of people I mean like a handful of the best skiers in the world, not like say me). I say the sw 9 was more impressive because in 2005 or 6 when he did it, I have serious doubts about other people being capable at the time.
 
Wise is 27.. however, the long term limits of age in freeskiing seems to still be something that is being tested at the moment. IMO from a technical perspective the switch 9 is on another level.. the in-run of chads is wild even going forward, however, overcoming the fear of the ankle injury and sending double back 10 years later raises the gnarly factor beyond others who have sent doubles over it.
 
I think Tanner should do the freeride world tour. I can't see him doing really well in slope or pipe and the injuries there could be really bad. I also think the switch 900 was more impressive. I can't imagine going into that switch.

He did both, dub 10 over pyramid in EDIAS and did dub 10 over chad's a couple years later in one of the shitty PBP movies (revolver maybe?).

Best of luck to Tanner though, that guy has incredible drive on top of a Costco size portion of talent. Bet he will be at least a threat in the pipe if not a favorite to win in the big comps.

Durtschi did a Kangaroo on pyramid and a dub 10 on chad's

Tanner's switch 9 on Chad's is still gnarlier than almost anything else ever and is the most quintessential newschool trick IMO

Dub backy was sick this year esp considering his history on Chad's. Worth mentioning that his misty 7 on it in wski106 was badass too
 
if you remember, the race to make the US olympic team was essentially a competition to not get hurt. I don't think tanner has ever gotten hurt in a pipe or slope contest. It was always something stupid in the backcountry or a photo shoot. He skis halfpipe so consistently, thats his advantage. If he can do rightside 9's in the halfpipe... he will surely have rightside doubles in slopestyle if wanted to, easily. Excited to watch this season.
 
chances of currier, blunc, wise, torin, gus, ferrera... etc hurting themselves before olympic pipe are pretty high. They ski halfpipe like madmen, its almost not sustainable. Tanner and Taylor Seaton could both easily be on the next olympic team in pipe. Birk Irving, Lennon Vaughn, and broby leeds could really shake things up in halfpipe. If wing tai could land a run, that would changes things as well.

Casual! It's been a while since I've been on here. I'm too old, too. I was being sarcastic. I agree. Both Collins and Wilson did dub backs over it. I think some other dudes in the Tee Time movie crew might have done dubs over it, as well. To me it's sick, but not that technical. I want to see someone land Chad's switch in my lifetime. I was bummed Karl F didn't pull it off this year....

Tanner is not on Candide level.. sorry no body is.. that high speed double back flip next to the huge barn is just another testament to how much better Candide is than every other skier in the known universe tanner is still an amazing skier though

In the interview he told me he wanted to get back into the pipe, with the goal of X Games and Dew Tour. Might be a little harder to swing in an Olympic year, but we'll see...
 
Would love to see tanner compete in anything but pipe especially. Switch 9 was way more gnar that the dub unless you think about the fear in his head when he did the dub after the ankle experience. SLVSH should put together a candide vs tanner game of MEGA SLVSH includes backcountry, rails, jumps and pipe(?). If tanner went to the Olympics for pipe I would be so fucking hyped. That goat might be able to save the sport of pipe skiing.
 
Tanner is amazeballs, but because of his injuries, he didn't keep up with the progression to triples. so he can't compete in slope.

and although he could do double-flares in the pipe several years ago, he also missed the progression when it became mandatory to double-cork every hit to win a pipe comp.

if he were 21 years old and had never been injured, for sure he'd be able to progress, keep up with and win slope and pipe comps with the rest of them. but Father Time stops for no one - not even T_HALL.
 
Switch 9, hands down.

Even if he didn't get back into competition, it's still rad to see him healthy and getting after it again. Being the same age and with my fair share of injuries it's tough just to get back to where you feel confident to try new shit, and that's what he's doing, big ups to that. I just don't picture him in the olympics, and I wonder if even he sees himself there, just doesn't seem right, but would love to see him get some top 5 or even podium in the xgames, dew tour, or free ride comps. No matter what he does though, just seein him healthy and sending it is badass.

I would assume freeride would be his only real shot at relevance. I know Tanner is nuts but like one large hit that he decks out on could undo a shit ton of rehab in one moment. Pipe is for young people.

Honestly, just so psyched to see the progression he's putting out, he's trying to learn triples on an airbag and I feel like it won't be a super long time before he can get those. The only thing I would say is the guy is 34 years old, and you just don't recover the same way at that age as when you're younger. Seeing him on the FWT is gonna be amazing, but with the sheer determination he's got, I wouldn't put X games or Dew tour out of the question at some point in the future. And switch 9 is way gnarlier.

no, he will not top any of the younger kids to make the Olympics at this point in his career, unfort.
 
I heard from an inside source that tanner's new movie is just a bunch of clips of him riding the stationary bike and the screen is filled with "100" emojis
