OK, for some reason i got the feelin that tanner hall is leavin rossi, to go for armada. Also that evan raps will do the same thing. Is this just a rumour, or has it been confirmed, because then rossi can't use that stupid theme, 'follow the leaders, tanner, evan and boyd'

That wouldn't make to much sense since Armada is kinda new and im sure they would make more money with Rossi but you could be right.

yeah boyd even skis on armada's in a couple places, if you pause it at some of the parts were it has the big drum fil, you can see the skis and stuff

r u kidding me? tanner hall isn't goin to armada. think about it, who has more money, rossi or armada? who'll spend big bucks on promotion?

Thats what I'm thinking... I'm wondering what all these skiers are going to do when they see their paychecks or whatever the hell they get this winter... they obviously won't be getting as much with Armada as they did their previous company, for the first year anyway. It will be a crucible of sorts... will these riders prove their true commitment to the sport and to their company... or will they cave in for money?

 
What if rossignol is supporting armada behind the scenes. It kinda makes sense cause it would be a way for them to make money and it would help a cool new company get off the ground. Also they could e giving armada help with design becaue it was mentioned that the skis are built like the scratches. Rossignol is a big company. THey own lots of other stuff like cleveland golf clubs and look bindings so maybe the rossignol riders are like helping out ad spreading armadas word around.

tanner is with armada, he is an investor, I heard that rossignol has invested in armada hoping to take them over and that is why the whole team is switching, except Julien R.L.

rossi is in no way affiliated with armada. it isnt tanners company either but he did sign a three year contract.

wow I am amazed at how many people are obsessed with armada. first off if the company was smart at all, they would be promoting the shit out of them selfs. buy keeping shops, and consumers wondering what the product is like until oct 15 is sort of a nono. And i would like to know where all you people have heard this info about people switching. if you have heard it off a board then STFU cause its prolly not true, but if you have heard it from a director or rep then thats ok. in the end do you really care who pros ski for? i mean that bode miller is geting paid upwards of 15 million to ski for rossi but does that make rossi a good ski? no cause he isnt even skiing the same skis as you can get in a shop. al i am saying is that if armada was the shit, you would be hearing alot more of them, they would be sending catologes to all the skis shops in the country, and they would have ads in every ski mag. I have yet to see one yet.

Yeah none of this makes sense, why would rossi support a product that rivaled their own, also why would tanner and boyd go to armada, armada couldnt possibly have a lot of money, and if they did go to armada didnt they have a contract with rossi, or were they 'free agents'

Money isn't the only thing in the world. Most pros ski for the skiing itself and the money is just a nice benefit from being good. Many pro skiers are supporting Armada because it supports them. It's a company that cares about their pros and will supposedly treat them better than most ski companies. Tanner probably got tired of alot of his buds getting treated like shit and is trying to do something about it.

As far as Armada making a stupid marketing move, you couldn't be more wrong. What other company has caused this much discussion? Everyone is interested in the company with very little knowledge. If they had of given all of their information initially, people wouldn't be wondering and asking questions like they are. It's an amazingly brilliant thing to do in my opinion.

if all tha benifits from tha skis is seperated throught tha riders and into technology, riders are gonna have a smallest pay check in tha beginning... but if tha ski is a focking good seller... which will prolly be tha case if we look at how much people are interessted ......... weelll tha riders are gonna be rich...

actually i heard from guys in negociation with armada that they would be Shareolder witch meen that if armada is working well(wich is very possible with all the marketing they are doing)those riders wuld be rich,and its also a security for after their career....thats the interestant clause of they contract...

vtrider - since armada isn't planning on releasing skis until NEXT year (2003/2004 season) there is no reason to be putting shit in shops. obviously they are doing something right because every person on this site is already worked up about a company that isn't even part of the ski industry yet.

many other people - everyone keeps claiming how the riders wouldn't switch from rossi to armada because of money. think of it this way, these guys take a small monetary hit for a year or two to help armada get started. within 5 years if the company is booming they will be making 10 times what they could have ever made with rossignol because it will be their company, not some big corporate piece of shit that pays someone like Bode Miller 1 million a year when no one even knows who the guy is.

one other thing - armada is garunteed to be the next big thing in skiing. the most respected pros will be supporting the company, and the right people are in charge. it is truly the next step in our sport's progression and will be one of the best things to happen to skiing. pay attention at the comps and shit this year to who is riding them and what these guys have to say about the company. you will all start to understand soon enough...

Tanner hall aint in it for the money. He is in for the progression of the sport. The guy one big air, and slopestlye at the xgames. He can get all the money he wants from oakley, and all of his other sponsors. And the company, 10 years ago, who woulda thought that jason levianthal would create some of the most popular skis on the market. Give em time, plus you don't think that a bunch of freeskiers on a website discussing and arguing over armada isn't enough publicity. For all you know i mite be a rep, or sales person. Look how much cheaper it is.

I heard that Boyd was going to Armada like a month ago, but i doubt if anyone else from rossi is , they won't get paid as much. And Bode Miller is not getting paid 15 million for skiing for Rossi, he's getting a million and then competition bonuses. Like if he wins he gets more money

 
i hear something about noone knows who body miller is???uh ok... and as for money goes, i doubt armada will EVER make as much, or be able to pay as much as other ski companies. this 'newschool' skiing is undoubtedly getting bigger, but it wont get as big as the rest of the skiing industry. The majority of skiers(and skis produced for them) are recreational skiers and racers. and well, armada doesnt exactly make skis specified for those areas. i heard rumors of like...being backed by some snowboard company???if thats true, then there is plenty of money...but is that just a rumor?

Julien, Boyd and Tanner have switched. It's definatley gonna open up some promotional opportunities for Rossi, wonder who will be there next 3 main guys?

well whoever rides for whoever dont matter really as long as they throw down and keep the sport growing....

as for rossi backing armada - somehow i dont think so. is probably more to do with julien being involved, as he seems to be the one out of the rossi guys rumored to be in on it that seems smartest in the sense of design and that - i would bet he voiced the idea to rossi just before the armada thing broke, and thats why they have a similar construction style...

but whatever, only a few days and we'll all find out for sure whats going on...hopefully

i could easily see him switching to armada and not caring about the money hes won about 45- 55 thousand dollars in comps the past year i would want more money but does he?im not sure tho

Straight from Rossi:

Tanner and Co. have left Rossi. They are skiing for Armada. The company is based out of So. Cal. It was started with $ from a few investors. Including some of the skiers. Rossi is paying Bode Miller $1 Million, I guess some of Rossi's other athletes weren't too happy about that (i.e. their whole freeride team).

 
Joker, i did not relize that they were not releasing them this year, from all the hipe on the board, my guess was that they were.

And bode is getting paid 1.2 million for signing with rossi, thats already in his pocket. His contract is actualy worth upwards of 20 million if he wins all of the events this year, gits the max amount of plublisity and really makes rossi sales jump.

As far as money goes, rossi grossed over 400 million last year, so they have the money to shell out. a new company doesnt have this type of backing. And if you think of how huge racing is compared to freestyle/freeriding then you will relize why there saleries are so differant.

I have no problems with new companys starting up, actually i am all for it. more companys = more advertiseing = the larger the sport will get.

you are missing the point here, sure rossi has all this money, BUT they don't really give a fuck about what we are doing. If that talk about Bode Miller is true, that proves my point. You would be suprised if I told you some of the people that make more money than Tanner from salary alone. Everything is not as it seems in the skiing industry.
