Tanner Hall: Chads Gap part II?

When i saw Tanners clip on scarred or whatever, at the end it says, and Ill never do that again. So my question is, if you took a fall that hard would you be able to go back up there and hit it again, or just say fuck it?

Im not saying the same trick again, im just saying chads in general. That would be a huge fear coming down the in-run to that the first time after you broke both ankles.

on a gap like that for me no i wouldnt have the balls to hit it in the first place and like someone said he has nothing to prove since he stomped it

When did he ever have anytihng to prove? Thats not the point at all. Its kinda like Kristis part in 1242 with that rail, haha but not even close!

well that whole 1242 part was about her conquering the rail bla bla bla bla.. tanner already did chads, kristi had never done that rail before. i see the difference.

yea but if he didnt make it at all he could have doubted himself and wanted to prove it to himself, or atleast thats what i would be thinking

haha yeh, the bit that annoys me most is "I was ready for the rail, but not for the pole at the bottom"

but i guessed they realised how gay they were when they took the piss out of it in X=TEN

i don't think he has any pressure to do it again, he already did it. Sort of a been there, done that, thing

I broke my back doing overshooting a backflip and came ridiculously close to dying or spending the rest of my life in a wheel chair. I know for sure that i will never do a straight back again, and im still undecided about even skiing next year.

just take it easy and it will work...

had the same experience last year and this winter was ok to ski.. did nothing really big but pushed myself further to bigger stuff and so on..

haha that would just slow you down, resulting in a shorter jump and fucking yourslef up even more than Tanner did.

Personally, I would love to see someone attempt Chad's in one of those Sumo suits though..

I really wouldn't. Before I thought if I got hurt, I'd be able to get back up and do it again later, but I cannot. I broke my collarbone on this road gap and I haven't gone back to hit it yet. It's been almost two years.

Chads gap has been cab 9ed unless some one does a double cork over it or lands fakie over it its stupid to hit it all the big tricks have already been thrown down over it.

i'd fuckin go back and conquer my fear. When i heard him say he would go back i yelled at the tv "fucking pussy!"

last spring (just over 13 1/2 months ago) i crushed my T11 vertebra over 3mm, cracked my T8, and broke the right rib coming off my T11 in the hardest, most painful crash i've ever had. it was so painful, i literally couldn't see, with my eyes wide open, for the first minute or so after the crash. the pain was LITERALLY blinding- it was like someone was shining a bright light in my eyes and my head was ringing like there were a thousand bells going off in my brain all at the same time. i can honestly say i'd hit that jump again right now if given the chance- i've hit bigger ones since then and was riding downhill within 11 weeks after the crash. Tanner made a mistake and i'm sure there aren't many days that go by that he doesn't think to himself "if only i did... instead. then it never would have happened." he's a tough guy, mentally and physically, so i'd be surprised if he never went back there, but it might take some time. some people bounce back from something like that, go back out there, and show that gap (or whatever fucked them up) that they own that shit, others take their time, collect themselves, and focus on something else for a while. i can promise you, though, that his crash haunts him and i doubt he'll forgive Chad's Gap or let it go. we will see Tanner on Chad's again- he and that gap have some business to settle.

one question: why would he do chads when the landing is hard pack that is melting instead of when there is powder??? i have seen candide hit the wall 3 times in a day and the next day he came out at did a d-spin 7 over it. wats the deal??

If i were tanner, and had access to a giant airbag, in the bc then i totally would. but then again i'm not tanner, i've never been off a jump that big, never will, and am not as gangster, and don't have enough x's in my clothing sizes

if it was a major pow day maybe i would try it agiain if i was tanner.... but you know the next thing that will happen if tanner does it again is he will overshoot it in fear of casing it....and it would suck to overshoot that, there is a hill like another 50 feet from the landing.

He's right. But damn.... for anyone that has even seen Chad's or stood on that pile of sand that is a landing, it's absurd that he was hitting it in those conditions. Way back when during the time of Flying Clay Pigeons or whatever people used to hit the wall on purpose when it was all powder..... Tanner hitting it in just plain slush, where the speed changes between each hike to the top is nuts. And plus, I guaranteed if he hit it again he would overshoot by 50 feet. That would be a scary overshoot as well..... there's like, no run out at all.

Man... haha, I prolly should read your post^. Sorta coincidental that be both used the measurement of 50 feet though, and I didn't read yours. Sure they're talking about different things, but still.

i think i would do it again. it doesnt matter if he had already done it or not, its the fact that he hasnt done it since he fell, so its sort of like...chads gap wins. thats like at your home mountain, if you hit a rail for years, and you take a bad fall on it, and never hit it again because of it. it doesnt matter how many times you had hit that rail in the past, if you dont hit it because you are afraid, you are letting the rail beat you, you know?

I think the only way to redeem himself after that crash is to do a huge spreader in the air with no clothes on. then land switch.

Tanners got nothing to prove. Anyway there's no point him going back. When he was doing chads it was so hot but right now we're all a bit bored of it. Chads and pyramids have been abit over done.

Does he really need to.... it wouldn't suprise me if it was never sessioned by a legit film crew ever again simply due to the fact of how hard it was destroyed...... imagine how insane it would be to one up tanner on chads gap

No he doesnt need to, he really doesn't need to do anything, but its the fact of letting chads win, or tanner win. I personally dont think i could come back to it, it would be so intense flying down the inrun

Chads gap is a stupid gap anyway. It's step-down so there's a huge risk in every hit.

There's better gaps with more airtime and made as step-ups so you won't fuck yourself up if you come up short.

watch The gapsession and the BC jump that inspired them.

Conditions doesn't matter. He broke BOTH ankles, even if it was a huge pow day, and he hit it, theres no way he would feel confident powday or summer.

tanner hall hit it one year from his accident

he doesnt give a shit that he broke his ankles

he was out for 6 months then back on them again

he just knows not to go slow again
