Tanner Hall back competing this X Games?

If hes allowed to compete, than so am i

but for real im not sure if they do exemptions for the x games or not, its not like he could pre-qualify because he hasnt won anything in a few years

Just because he's skiing doesn't mean he's competing, a quick look at the invited athlete list and you'd see tanner isn't on it. You have to have results to compete at the xgames, which tanner hasn't had in years.

I don't get the invite system.

They say they base it off results, however, they have violated this before to increase viewership. Shaun white hadn't competed in slopestyle for years (0 results) and they let him compete last year in slope. WIth Tanner's mainstream name, I'm sure the espn network would let him compete if he was in the fit condition to compete/qualify. All i can tell you is the Xgames loves story line and what better story line then the return of T Hall.

Shawn has won the xgames for like the past 3 years, if you compete in the xgames the year before you're pretty much guaranteed to be in the next year.

no hes not competing. on inspired radio he said that he would be at x hittin the pipe just to get the feel of riding the pipe under the lights and get a feel for it again...

hell be back competing next season

First day back in an Xgames pipe doesn't mean hes competing, hes fucking Tanner Hall he could ride the closed pipe if he wanted, But If he is competing I will be stoked beyond belief.

Like that guy said, he had no results in SLOPESTYLE. He's won superpipe for the past whatever amount of years, but hasn't compete in slopestyle since 2009. So did he just get into the qualifiers because he's Shawn White? Or can anybody invited to the X Games do any qualifier they want?

Tons of skiers ski in the X-Games practice sessions who have no plans of competing. Hell, JF Cusson took a few laps a couple years ago.

He's said in a few interviews that he is just going to play around in the pipe during practice. He's not competing.

I feel like they would let him compete no matter his lack of contest victories as of late. The guy always attracts drama to the broadcast because of his history in skiing. More drama=more views for them I would imagine. I would also imagine that they keep this kind of thing in mind. That being said Im sure hes just practicing for the fun of it.

Yes! i hope there is the chat with tanner thing again this year that was so funny. He will probably just get extremely high like last year.

Holy hell, this'll be exciting.

.

I could see them letting Tanner run in the pipe. He's a fucking legend. Think how much they could hype his return and no doubt dig up the Tanner / Dumont rivalry again.

Before his run: Hey Tanner break a leg out there! I mean, ankle...

Sorry that was my attempt to be funny.

Yeah like eheath and others said though, just because he took a few runs or is going to take a few runs on the course doesn't mean he's competing. If he wants to compete though I think he would have to qualify like a normal competitor. Just because a few years ago he was unstoppable doesn't mean they automatically just let him in. I don't know though, I'm not an X-Games managing position, what I said would just make the most sense to me.

what matters to espn is making money, and Tanner will bring in a lot more money than anyone else in the competition. He is one of the few skiers that the mainstream public is well aware of.

Yeah that is very true. It's all about them making money. Personally, I would love to see Tanner out there. I just didn't think it would actually happen.
