TAME IMPALA

Kevin Parker came out with three new singles. I’m not really digging them, they just don’t have that fuzz/psychedelic sound like Lonerism, inner speaker, or his EP had. They are kind of boring.

'Cause I’m a Man

Disciples

Let it Happen

Also, if you like this kind of genre of music-

enjoy

why make a thread about something you don't really like?

Well, I like Tame Impala’s old stuff, just wanted to see other people's opinions on their new stuff.

Tame Impala- For people who like to think they're not into mainstream music but are too lazy to actually find good artists.

i love tame impala but you're right the new stuff isn't as cool.

if i were to look for weird down under psychedelia i would check out connan mockasin from new zealand.

i've listened to tame impala since their first album, and i agree its not like his older tunes, but i do dig the new stuff too. his music is just evolving...either way im so stoked for the new album, i think its gonna end up being really good.

Define mainstream? Just because someone likes Tame Impala doesn’t mean that they dont' know those secretive, reserved, artists that you know.

Don't get all butthurt. It was just meant in a way that meant that most Tame Impala fans think they've discovered a great band when in reality everyone knows them and say things like "I'm not into radio mainstream stuff, I'm much more into Tame Impala" even though every person and their dog knows Tame Impala

Tame Impala got famous by marketing psychedelic rock to hipsters. So pretty much any and all psychedelic rock artists. Especially neo psychedelic

I really want to like Tame Impala (still trying), but to me they give off that music-for-nonmusicians vibe, which isn't necessarily a bad thing (take The Black Keys for instance). It makes good background music, but if I try to actively listen to it I get bored.

Have you listened to the black keys first two albums?

Disciples was alright, not a fan of the others. I would have been ok with this new style but the songs themselves seem poorly done/boring. If I even buy the album it would probably just be for background music.

can't wait for the new King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard album to drop monday though

Holy shit, this is awesome!

New stuff is dope! That riff on Let it Happen is UNREAL.

Very interesting to see how many bands have gone disco recently...

Started with Arcade Fire and then slowly trickled and trickled. Broken Bells, Sam Roberts, Yukon Blonde, Black Keys etc etc all have disco-influenced sounds on their new albums. Tame Impala is right in there with them.
