BOISE, Idaho -- Homeowners at a failed central Idaho ski resort want to resurrect lift operations next winter and plan to ask the state, a federal judge and creditors to go along with their plan.

The Tamarack Municipal Association, which represents property owners at Tamarack Resort in Donnelly, said they would use some of their reserves to initiate a four-day, Thursday-through-Sunday ski season starting in December.

The resort hasn't had a ski season since mothballing lifts in March 2009.

Its majority owner, Jean-Pierre Boespflug, is trying to find a buyer while the resort's finances are sorted out in federal bankruptcy court.

Zurich-based Credit Suisse Group is among dozens of creditors trying to recover hundreds of millions in unpaid debts.

The homeowners say they have a business plan showing they could break even.

YEEE Buddy.

sounds like there is a good chance

just hope they can afford to make a good park if it happens

still stoked though

when tammy was open i didnt go there very much. once it closed i wanted to go more and now that it might be back i am excite!

If they were to reopen it would be a whole new mountain. Fewer staff (shortstaffed, most likely), minimal services, fewer chairlifts (i.e. No Wildwood), most likely no park at all. Too many insurance issues. It's difficult buying insurance at a bankrupt resort. I could see maybe a small rail park, but that's probably it. Limited grooming. Fewer operations days. Overall, it would be Tamarak, but not the Tamarack you came to know and love (or hate).

whats going on up there? does it sound like they could open with that plan the home owners put together?

or any other news?

the judge denied their proposal, but they are coming up with a new one that they think will work better for everyone

i had no hope when people said that it was opening for sure

oh look, now it isnt

realism or cynicism?

i just dont know

haha

just because the judge denied that loan, doesnt mean they wont open

they are coming up with a new proposal that works better for everyone

the fact of that proposal being denied leads me to believe that it was shitty and the fact that it was shitty would lead me to believe that their hearts are not in it 100% which would lead me to believe that they will continue to fail

why would their hearts not be in it 100%?

if their hearts werent in it 100% they wouldnt have put together a bunch of their own money to try and open a bankrupt resort

This is an interesting development, actually. Because now there are two separate ongoing developments at Tamarack.

1. Attempt at a Re-opening. Being staged by the Tamarack Municipal Homeowner's Association, this is the attempt to re-open the resort on December 20. This is unrelated to current bankruptcy proceedings. It's being staged completely by the homeowner's association. That's what makes this attempt different. The homeowners have a solid business plan and will fully fund this season.

2. Purchase by Green Valley, LLC. This is the $40 million attempt to purchase Tamarack Resort.

It'll be interesting to see how Credit Suisse and the other creditors get paid. No matter what, they're still owed $300 million.

Not to put a downer on anybody, (if its true), i was standin in line at the ticket office today and I was talkin with Ian Fitzpatrick, if any of you know him…and he and his girlfriend/wife/who ever the hell that was, were sayin that this will be the LAST season that tam will ever operate. I'm not sure where they got this info, but I know that the girl is a BLM worker up in the tam area, so I bet she would know.

bummer deal.

I jus had an interview up there today for a lift op. good chance i will get the job cuz ive worked there couple years before. im bankin on gettin your passes for 199 and come shred deep pow pow with me! it will be da mos Irie times mon jahhhhhhh

So in the parks and pipe section of their site, Tamarack only says no superpipe so probably gonna be the regular park. But anybody know if there's gonna be a ski bus?

im really thinking im getting a tam pass instead of brundage, id almost rather ski the resort alone all i need is a confirmed mode of transportation
