Tall skiers?

Im 6'2" but hopefully ill grow at least another inch or two because I am 16 and grew 2" in the last year. I am sure that the negative aspects in skiing are completely made up for in other parts of liffe!

Being semi tall and fat is horrible, I'm 6' 250 pounds, and when I fall you can hear it, and I feel it for a while afterwards.

Lemme put it this way, how many tall pro to small pro ratio do you see ( In terms of the professional aspect of the sport)? probly 10:1 short to tall. Next tricks, what kind of tricks do taller guys throw down like Collins Downey Willard (exception Spriggs and Brown) as where small guys like Edollo Wally Casabon THall Carlson Riley Flynn Wells Gagnier White Perron Godbout Rainville Abma Pollard Powis Jordan.. explains itself. This Sport is harder on taller guys because of impact. 6'4" doubles on the tramps drop pillows switch pow and cliffs totally good, get me in an icy park or rails and it's not so fun. specially urban. Like they say 'Big Tree Fall Hard'. Being under 6' you are likely 20 to 30 pounds lighter and more compact. Everybody's different but landing hard constantly begins to take a toll especially being heavier, wether you're built like a brick house or just athletic. In terms of tricks its not that different, but when it comes to easier or harder being tall, definitely harder. Styles your own.

It's hard to have good style being a tall skier. I have some friends that are really tall and pretty good at skiing but they just look uncomfortable the whole time.

i know that feel bro

i'm 6'2.5''

sometimes i feel like my legs are a bit long, you know, makes em feel flimsy, but i dont have any other problems except that to get "the same airtime feel" as a 5'9'' dude get on a jump, we need a bigger jump...

being short makes it easier to get longer skis and easier to get baggy shit, besides that not too many advantages imo. being tall is sick cause ure tall

As i said in earlier comment, short dudes have "more time" in jumps because they jump the same height and lenght but the short ones can take more time to finsih a flip/spin than a long dude, just look att when jumping on trampolines.

that's the difference imo.

Well in terms of proffesionals. I think that most tall athletes (i mean genetic athletes, not wannabes) stray away from skiing.

most tall skiers you see arent the most athletic tall people if you really think about it. take a nba point guard and rearrange his past dedicating it to skiing. like steve nash growing up in bc, but huckin gnar instead of passin' magic...hed be doing crazy acrobatic shit.

if skill is absolutely equivalent, taller athletic skiers can ski faster, handle bigger stomps. That comes with a drawback of harder falls, and worse injuries.

i think Shorter skiers make better pros because overall they're more acrobatic...like i said.most of the genetic athletes that are tall dont even consider skiing as a sport. its unfortunate.

I'm 5'7"

i wish i was a little bit taller, i wish i was a baller,

but then again, Its good to be short. Whenever i see my friend who is 6'3" crash hard, it looks so fucking painful.

As long as you're strong, height doesn't really make a difference in skiing. I think a lot of tall, young skiers who have grown several inches in a season or two have a lower strength to weight ratio than shorter guys, and that certainly makes a difference. I'm a tall dude, and there was a year when I was 17 or 18 when I finally bulked out a bit and suddenly felt as comfortable hitting 60 footers as I did hitting 25 footers the year before.

Same here... only thing I notice is that I fall very hard... while my shorter friends seem to just bounce back up
