Tail Clip tips?

so I did my first big tour today, headed up Mt Yotei in Hokkaido, just over 1500m vert climb in around 4 hours (not going to lie one of the toughest things i've done in a long time...) anyway i noticed a few times my tails clips slipped off my skis and would get caught on my other ski/poles/snow when i was doing kick turns. Now this could be my poor technique, but does anybody have any tips to make sure my tail clips are more secure?

Im using Black Diamond ascension skins with the standard tail clips for reference....

Make sure they're tight enough that you're stretching the rubber tail strap a little to get them on, and then make sure not to step on your own tails, that's how mine always come unclipped haha.

This is a common problem with twin tips. I cut a small flat spot on the back of my ski, just through the tail cap, that lets my tail clip rest easy.

This is why I love Dynafit. I’ve never had this problem with the patented tail click system. And the elastic toggle that simply clips into the groove at the tip is a great feature for quick and easy transitions from tour-to-ski-mode without stepping out of the bindings.

Ps. Don't stand on your tails.

If you have the same BD skins as me you fold that rubber strap over and hook it on the end of the clip so it's kind of pinned in and less likely to fly off. That explanation was horrible but you get the idea if you've seen it

Sounds goofy, but I recommend using a little duct tape to secure the tail to the ski.. I have the BD Mix skins that are basically the same as yours.

Whenever I'm touring on twin tips with my BD Skins I put tape on the back clip and ski strap the front of to keep snow from glopping under the skin. A little annoying to do but really helps on the skin track.
