considering moving there this year but i have a couple of questions....

how far is reno away from the resorts and is this the best place to live if you dont want to live in the middle of nowhere?

south shore or north shore and how far travelling in between?

best work/party area to live in?

reno is like a half hour, maybe 45 minutes from truckee, i would recomend living in truckee, it's not nothing, and reno is too far.

Reno

1) 45 minuted to boreal

2) 45 MINUTES TO n-sTAR

3) HOUR TO SQUAW

4) hOUR ten minutes to alpine

I moved to tahoe 8 years ago from the east coast

I suggest North Shore (tahoe city) or living with MANY roomates at squaw or alpine...you dont want to have to drive far when its dumping

REno is OK, but the drive drags on ya after a while....

trukee is right next to squaw for amazing skiing and a good park, northsatar for a great park, and alpine for cheap but good skiing (i dontl ike alpines park). trukee is the true tahoe life, so if you want to expierience tahoe like you read about move to trukee. its about an 45 minutes from reno

dude calskier do you like not know where like tahoe is! GEEEE RIP newschoolers is gettting so silly. its in northern clitifornia near nevada!

ya bro i think your thinking of Taos haha thats funny, but o well everyone makes mistakes...

or your were being sarcastic and thats really hard to pick up on over hte internet.

man ....so people are exagerateing the distance from reno to Tahoe. It's mostly all interstate if not all to most of the resorts. so you can make it to alpine or squaw or Northstar in 45mins or less along with boreal as well. 30 mins to mt rose. Reno is sweet if you are in college cause there's tons of kids to car pool with as well as get your learn on. If your not going to school and you can afford it I would reccomend truckee for sure.

iw ould live in reno if I were you. truckee is dead in winter, but reno is always cool, much bigger. As long as you dont mind a short drive to ski.

Reno will have the most people your age and the most things to do at night. Truckee or South lake will have less people and things to do, but are closer to skiing. So i guess it's your preference.

You honestly need to check them both out for your self if you already havent. They might be differnet then you expect. winter life in the truckee/ tahoe area is litte to none aside from resorts.
