Tahoe Season Passes?

I'm going to be attending UNR next year and I was wondering about season passes for the tahoe area. I'd appreciate if any locals/students at UNR could help me out. what mountains should I get passes for? I've never skied in tahoe before so I have no experience up there. also, is the super pass worth it?
 
i forget what passes there are now in terms of groups of mountains, but if youre into real skiing you want a squaw/alpine pass. for park northstar i guess but beyond park it's a totally lackluster mountain, same with boreal. boreal is like a tiny east coast park mtn that for some reason is on top of donner pass...sorta weird. fun place though
 
the super pass includes squaw, alpine, sierra, and the sugar bowl so I guess that would be the pass to get. it's only $409 which I don't think is too bad either.
 
personally I go with boreal mostly because of money. The college pass is around 100$ bucks.

Great things about boreal

1.Opens fairly early/ closes late/has a good park earlier then most other resorts

- easy to get multiple days before other parks are even up and running (from my experience northstar waits closer to christmas to build up a good park. But don't ski their often.)

2. higher elevation then resorts like sugar bowl...etc.. often get snow when others get rain.

3. cheap even with out pass 15 dollar fridays

4. night skiing. I go take a lunch break then come back. (open from 9am to 9pm)

5. has woodward

6. great vibe

cons

1. small mountain. but is good when they get enough snow. last years snow sucked for the most part

2. jump line is limited. not a lot of different sizes. they are a couple tiny jumps and then a couple decent sized

I'd love to be hitting like two days a week, if not more. it all just depends on my schedule in college. and all mountain and park primarily.

boreal does sound pretty enticing... I can totally deal with a small mountain, my local mountain here in vegas is about 3 chairs and 4 runs lol.

oh yeah i forgot sugar bowl is on the pass now too. yeah that is an amazing price for those mountains
 
you're going to want a mountain to ski. if you get a boreal pass, have it be an extra pass on the side. So.. either get the heavenly/kirkwood/northstar pass or the squaw/alpine pass. heavenly/kirkwood are both pretty south and will take much longer to get to so stick with the north side of the lake. since you are going to be in reno, i'd suggest squaw/alpine for decent parks/great mountains and a boreal pass to mix things up and get some good park shred/night skiing in. you obviously have other options such as mt rose, sugar bowl, diamond peak... but they just don't compare in terms of overall terrain and park.
 
If you can swing it, the vail pass just because of Northstars park, sooooo long with so many features, and if it snows they will have big jumps and a pipe (albeit not as good as boreals). If it doesnt snow, they will have good jumps around 35-40.

And by swing it, I mean buy a squaw/alpine pass to go with it, because when it snows you don't want to go to northstar.
 
I think I'll for sure get the boreal pass, the fact that it's basically a tailored park resort and also the night skiing is very appealing because I won't know my schedule until I'm up there pretty much... and night skiing is fun as hell. I can swing the squaw/alpine pass so I'll do that too, unfortunately the college pass doesn't include sugar bowl/sierra but oh well. I'd love to have some all mountain ski options (if it ever snows in reno again lol), and like I said I've never skied tahoe so getting the experience will be nice. I figure I can always just get a day pass or two for the other resorts just to check it out and change my passes next season if I like other mountains better.
