Me and 2 buddies got jobs at squaw and are moving there sat. We have no house lined up yet, thinking tahoe city.

We are driving a uhaul from northern arizona there, stopping in vegas on the way for a night- then camping while we find our house for the season. Where should we camp at? I know its a bummer giving away good camping spots but were looking for something other then a KOA or a designated camping spot. PM me ur spot

Or if anyone knows of any 3bd houses for rent let me know as well!!

There is tons of camping spots up in Tahoe that are not a KOA or a camp grounds. The Tahoe rim trail and a couple other trails allow camping off the trail.
 
hop on craigslist, there's quite a few listings, and yeah tahoe city or truckee will be your best bet for housing
 
try camping around dog valley near verdi or you could try the meadow lake area, might be snow tho

 
camping is gonna be damn cold the nights are getting below freezing even if its warm during the day
 
Well... Got to reno last friday, stayed at a girlfriends place there a few nights- since then I have been camping in tahoe.. Few days by donner ski area through the tunnels. Then I have been near tahoe city up by mt ellis. just going around and bumming.

Its not that cold out. I have enough gear that I am fine.-but there is snow on the ground.

Its alot easier with finding houses being here, There are a bunch available b/c I came a little early for the season. Stoked. Tahoe is sick, Reno is dope too!
 
I did something similar recently and your best bet for camping is just a few miles south of Tahoe city on the Highway 89. There will be a turn for a camp ground called Kaspian, and then like another two miles down the road there is a little turn off to the right on a dirt road. Legit free camping with bear boxes and fire rings with cooking grates. Everything you need homie.
 
I might be heading out there without a job. Got some call backs but they want to meet with me first. Hopefully one of the callbacks will be willing to hire over the phone but if not i might just go anyway.

If i don't get the job i want just find a job doing anything just to have something.

Anybody in the truckee area cool with a few days of couch/floor surfing for a couple days. Would throw some loot or beer there way.

I still have some other jobs in other spots I haven't heard back on. But tahoe area was my hope and I got callbacks so. I might just say fuck it. Sell my life and go out there. Live in my car for a few days if I have to.
