Tablet as a laptop replacement for photography?

Hello NS , I will soon make a little change in the way i live, I will move out west once again but this time for good ( I will also travel other places most of my time).

not to forget I will pretty much live only with a 65 litters backpack

As the main thing I do in life is photography I need something to play with my picture a little bit ( I usually do B&W conversion and tweak some stuff but my editing is very soft).

I am looking for something to edit the said picture, the question is; can I use a tablet as my main ( and only ) photography editing/classifying tool ?

couple of questions come to my mind when I had this Idea

Is there tablet that read SD card ?

Can I combined a tablet with an external hard drive for saving my good photo's/video's ?

Wich kind of tablet would have enough resolution for me to edit photo's ( if this actually exist )?

Any other tips/opinions on having a tablet as a laptop replacement ?

bad english, my bad second language for me

Oh also when I was in school I started a Ligthroom catalog on a mac computer ( I think we setted omething in preference for use on both mac and pc tho )

My catalog was getting filled with my best shot from the last couple months ( I tough Id buy a laptop to continue using it on my computer ) But now I don't have the original photo,s anymore I only have them on my LH catalog.

Is there a way i can continue using LH ( and my catalog ) on my tablet ? or atleast get the picture from LH and transfer them to a new classifying programme for tablet ( if this even exist ?)

Unless you're looking to buy the latest generation of Microsoft Surface Pro tablets, which are basically laptops, Just get a laptop.

I mean it won't really be that big of a difference between the tablet and a small laptop sizewise, so I would go with the laptop. But if you really have your heart set on a tablet, the surface pro is the only one that fits your description.

Get a surface pro 4 if your budget allows it. If not, there are plenty of people using the SP3 8G RAM i5 w/o too many issues. That is using LR and editing raw files. I've read that if you start getting larger photoshop files, the i5 8GB can struggle a bit.

I plan on getting the SP4 i7 16GB as soon as I can figure a way to save up $2k...

Sure you can get a macbook pro for around that much, but i'm a big fan of the SP form factor.

thanks to everyone I will chekc my option in a few month hopefully the SP4 or SP3 will drop in price !

also I migth consider that kind of small laptop too !!

I agree that surface will do if you want to replace the usage of your laptop to tablet. Check options. Been studying to buy that surface before.

If you're looking for something with size and price in mind, here's an epic deal on a laptop that is thinner than the new mac book, and actually out performs it too.

Perfect for most users.

I second the asus zenbook. especially if size and weight are a huge deal to you. its thinner than most tablets. has 256gb of solid state, and 8gb of ram. also has a built in sd card reader.

with all the back to school sales on right now I picked one up for around $800 CAD. you should probably be able to find one in the same price range. sounds like exactly what you are looking for
