so i searchbarred and everything googled it but nothing came up to how to format a memory card to my camera. the problem is that the camera stops recording after 5 seconds, ive googled this problem and most people say to format the memory card to the camera and how the hell do u do that

you can go to format card in the menu options

but thats not your problem

Your memory card is not a high enough class. check what class your card is, i but its a 6 or below
 
What's the class of your card?, If it's below a six that's why it stops recording after a couple seconds. The card just can't keep up with the camera.
 
The format option should be in your menu right near the erase images from card option if I remember off hand.
