You answered your own question, he just did a quick switch up. I don't understand how that is weird at all.
 
are you referring to like 2:29? yeah, it was a quick switchup, but i dont see what discussion you are trying to make
 
He did it fast so he could pretzel 2 out of the rail, from the looks of it, it's a pretty steep rail and in order to change his momentum around fast enough he had to to the switch up fast.
It's the same with Schlopy on the rail garden rail - it's a pretty short rail so in order to do the trick he had to blind swap as soon as he got on the rail so he'd have enough time to pretzel out.

since we're on the subject, i saw a video of someone doing a really quick 180. i can do them just not that fast. anyone know how to spin a 180 faster?
