My good buddy codizzle pointed this out to me, thought it was worth throwing up here. Two Tanner references in the new Transworld Snowboarding, pages 44 and 106. It's cool to know that T is a household name for the mainstream snowboarder!

snowboarding is levels ahead of skiing. skiing needs to stop riding its coat tails 3 years behind. all the shitty ski trends that come out happened in snowboarding a few years prior. skiing has so much potential but i just dont get how so many stupid people could be involved in one sport and so many innovative people in the other. every kid on this site needs to not be such a product of the ski industry...think for yourselves!! lets create something worth while. the whole gangsta attitude pot smoking pervert thing was played out a long time ago.

 
Dude, every other sentence you just wrote contradicted the one before it. That was the most incredibly jumbled thought process I've witnessed in quite some time. But I think I do understand what you're trying to say.

Nevertheless, we're talking about T-Hall in TWS, not about skiing getting off of snowboarding's coattails, which is a ridiculously huge topic in itself. Should we talk about that instead?

bottom line is, skiing needs more diversity. the gangsta thing is stupid. i'm glad to see more eclectic things happening like j.lindeberg, surface, to name a couple. people need to not look like a whole bunch of manufactured shit heads everywhere they go.

 


I definitely know what you're saying and agree with it to a certain extent. I'm not what you would call "gangster" in any sense of the word. However the pervert thing is here to stay, at least for me it is.

ASK BRAD made me want to quit skiing and I agree a lot of the shit in Freeze was gay. The humor in Freeze was quite terrible and the articles weren't great either but it was better than Freeskier. Skateboarding mags have surprisingly good written articles in them that are INTERESTING. I expect Ski T!me to be better than both Freeskier and Freeze despite it being free.

i'm saying dont be trendy. i'm not saying buy this or buy that. i'm saying do your own thing. dont allow some company to trick you into their marketing and sale you something because its "cool." loose the attitude that skiing has and just have fun with it. who cares what people look like. dweezlieast, sorry if i offended you. i'm just going off of what i read on your thing.

He is saying that the kids are copying snowboarding from 3 or 4 years ago. We (yes I snowboard too) got over that. Look at snowboarding now...

If you party you have the wildcats to follow.

If you are "straight edge" or religious you have many of the SLC pros.

If you are serious you have the pipe jocks (Powers, Finch, etc...)

If you are a sort of hippy you have some of the Big Mtn guys to follow.

If you are gehto you can follow MFM and some of other "gangsta" pros (there are a few).

If you are a girl there are girls who act like normal girls that happen to ride well.

And that's just some of the major 'categories'

In Skiing there are the 'gansta' pros and the really 'gangsta' pros that all smoke lots of weed and drink lots of beer. There are very few pros who are different, especially in North America.

I think one reason is that a large chunck of NS skiing is centered in Whistler where the party scenes seems much bigger. That's also where the wildcats are.

Skiing just needs to grow a little more and hopefully the kids will learn that you can be yourself and still ski well and have fun.

Shradical listen to your own words man... Saying people can’t dress in baggy clothes because its suddenly conforming is kind of against the other points you’re trying to make. You sound really shallow when you judge someone on the size of clothes they decide to put on that morning. Anyways, all this winning is useless and off topic. I want to see these references in transworld.
