all he was saying is that it made it hard to come up a little short when everybody says that you got it, especially after winning it 3 years in a row.
i personally know how it feels, and i'm usually the first person to congratulate somebody if they win. but i had won a regatta 3 years in a row, and was going into the final day of it in first place, and lost by the slimmest of margins to my best friend. i was fucking pissed off, but then cooled down and realized that there was nothing i coulda done about it.
i'm impressed with the way Tanner spoke, and i now have a great deal more respect for the man
