their new cd came out today. i liked BYOB and Questions, but the rest of the cd really sucked in my opinion. their new sound is hard for me to get used to. what ever happened to the real soad?

Man, I haven't been able to stop listening to it. My three favorite songd are BYOB, Cigarilo and Oldschool Hollywood. So far, its in my top five albums in the past year.

their very first album was the best... with 'sugar'.... theyve gotten progressively worse over the years toxicity sucked.... and the new album might aswell be avril lavigne. no thnax. what the fuck ever happend?

i was over most of the tracks after about 5 minutes of listening. too much messed up stuff, and i really hate the new sound. the new producer ruined the band

well.. i can only assume that 80s rock song or whatever its called is making fun of this new wave of shitty music... at least it better. but i dont see SOAD doing anythign to change shit. somebody better fuckin change music again.

i dont know who he is. forgive me. as with most cds, it got a lot better the more i listened to it, and i realized that the sound didnt change all that much. i will wait a bit longer before passing judgement. who is this rick ruben guy anyway? excuse my ignorance, i started listening to system of a down about a month ago

A month ago? I've been listening for three years, na d Mesmerize is definately a good album compared to Steal This Album, ehich had about 3-4 good songs:

A.D.D

Ego Brain

Did you not notice how nicely composed Mesmerize is? It's such a good album overall, not a bad song in there ( like Jet Pilot on Toxicity) and the chorus' are amazing in every song.. Even if BYOB is too crazy for you, the chorus mixes it up.. Really nice.

ive heard that this is album is better than steal but not as good as toxicity, it seems like that is the consensus as well here? i like actually hearing the opinions of people that actually know system so keep those coming

Rick Rubin produced the Beastie Boys and brought them to be pretty damn big. He also produced the Chili Peppers album Blood Sugar Sex Magik. This may be a bit of a bold statement, but the song Under the Bridge was found by Rick Ruben when Anthony Kiedis gave him some of his poetry to look over.

Rick Ruben is sorta like the Jesus of bringing out the best in bands and encouraging them to try crazy ass new stuff. That made me expect a lot more from this album...although listening to the System of a Down album a few more times makes me like it more and more...but that doesn't mean it's going down in history as some magical work of art.

i have never really liked there stuff personally...they sing about like pogo sticks and pizza and crap like that...in other words...what makes them diserve millions of dollars >???

yea they sing about completely random things but a lot of their songs relate to certain events much like rage against the machine in a sort of fight the power type thing. the band has substance unlike "lets go cry at the mall because our girlfriends dumped us because our penis' are too small" music
