Symmetrical park ski's that can rip up the mountain!

I live on the east so mostly old man made snow and ice. I wont get to much pow if any. Im looking for a symmetrical park ski that can still charge on the groomers. Im looking for low swing weight so its good for spins, poppy, good on rails, good on jumps.

I ski %80 park, %20 groomers and some tree's here and there.

Are the chronic cryptos up my alley? ( aside from the obvious fact that they arent symmetrical)

my suspects are pretty sick. the new price isnt bad either. i've already put maybe 20 days on them. i skid park maybe 17 or 18 of those days. they still are in good condish. surface no time or double time and of course line a-bangs or step ups would be my other recommendations. dont be afraid to get a non-symmetrical ski. they ski switch the same anyway.

how are either of these brands durability?? I notice they are a little more pricey and i can get chronics for cheaper sp im wondering if its worht the extra

i dont personally own on3ps or moments. but i have heard nothing but great things about their skis. so yes it is worth the extra money. plus they are handmade which is a plus.

agreed, apart from when icy because lets face it, no ski that has been used on rails can cope with ice.

cryptos will work just as well as a semitrical ski would in park and can be center mounted. they will also shread the whole mountain

RMU Diam.

Super sweet. Definately the best symmetrical park ski i've ever been on. It is sweet out of the park, and real sick in the park too.

volkl walls sound perfect for yea, they are symmetrical, awesome swing weight and a great pop. They are also great carving skis considering they are symmetrical. Personally they are my most favourite pair of skis I have ever owned. When i switched to the symmetrical park ski vs unsymmetrical park ski i barely noticed a difference in carving provided you have good technique. I could see it being more difficult to carve if you are still working on getting carving down.

its best to get one or the other in my opinion when you get something inbetween you only get half the ski

depending on the length you want (177 is symmetrical 170 is close but not quite symmetrical. not noticable difference though. i really like the 170s) Get the nordica ace of spades. two layers of titanol but not in any way overly stiff. once they break in a little they're actually a really good flex and very very poppy. they are excellent on rails and jumps. if you're going to be doing some groomers they have the torsional rigidity because of the metal so they hold an edge extremely well and they have nordica race ski bases which are incredibly nice bases. very fast but the bases do need a little extra care (more waxing) but it's so worth it. the width and radius is perfect for all around shredding. by far my absolute favorite park ski i have ever ridden. i highly recommend it.

I am with oreo on this....why do people expect a railled ski to rail ice? you can't take a file or grinder to your edges for the park then expect them to perform like gs skis on groomers. A soft symetrical twin park ski that hits rails and is center mounted cannot perform like a carver on the ice... Your best bet is to get a decent all mountain ski and a used park ski and use them accordingly. This way you will truly be able to hit the entire mountain without second guessing your gear.

idk know if you're looking for rocker or not, but Moment's PB&J for next year sounds great for you. 101 underfoot, symetrical with early rise in the tip and tail

Yeah they are goooooood! they seem like they have a really solid construction, they carve quite well for park skis... shame my edges are so smooth

It's already been said but you are never going to find a park ski that carves like a race ski if you are hitting rails and other features, but the walls are nice, poppy and quite light too :)

Not available until the fall, but the 11/12 Moment PB&J is EXACTLY what you want. It has symmetrical flex and center mount for park as well as mustache rocker/camber for all-mountain riding. Was on it the other day and was completely surprised how well it handled hardpack, moguls, and soft snow in tight trees.

im just a little worried that 101 underfoot is too big for someone on the east/ a parki ski...? correct me if im wrong.

Pretty sure Moment coined it and lots of other companies were using it at SIA this year to describe their rocker profile.

You want the best of both worlds and I honestly think the PB&J is it. 101mm underfoot isn't that wide and really, it's the ideal width for everyday skiing. Seriously, this ski was soooo much fun to be on and I can't stop talking about it. No koolaid necessary.

i got punx this year and love them, soft tip and tail but feel super stable when carving. i ski seven springs so i know what your riding

101 is finee. i ride lizzies (110) on the east coast as my everyday skis and i love them. the PB&J sound amazing though. anybody know what the flex is like?

I can't answer you but I'm thinking the PB&J might be my Lizzie replacement too.

I was having way too much fun on them to pay attention, but the tips and tails were super buttery, mostly due to rocker and not a crazy soft flex. At the same time, underfoot was plenty stiff to allow me to lay down some serious carves comfortably and leapfrog moguls at a high speed. Very forgiving ski that's for sure and one that makes me wish I was a park rat.

PB&J

People loved the lizzies in park and all mountain, the PB&J will be kinda like that but than even better..

(about the mustache rocker and elf shoe tech; I hate (I mean seriously) people who always use the term elf shoe for skis that have rocker and camber.. It's a term from 1 company, come on.. Mustache rocker is used also but not that much.. at least its is a lot funnier!)

I also agree with this (twice in one thread sorry). 176-177 needs to happen.

I don't see a need since there's a ton of tip rocker on these. The 188 I was on skied like a 182 (maybe shorter), so I imagine the 182 will ski like a 176. For someone my size (5'10", 178 lbs) the 188 was perfect, and unless you're under 140 lbs, the 182 will be money for those wanting a shorter length.

im on lizzies now and love them length-wise. and at 5'7" 135 i thought the 182 might be a bit much

i had the same senario as you and i ended up going with the cryptonites and it was the best decision i have ever made. they shred the park so well and you can just tear up groomers

sick i've been at school down in VA but im trying to get back up for a weekend soon. North park is looking sick

sick, hopefully ill see you up there, if you see a kid wearing an oakley jacket and pants that look the magic suit come on over and say hi haha

Ive put a shitload of days on my 173 punx and love them. Pretty tough, lots of pop. 173 for jibbing 181 would be a sick all mountain ski. You can carve a decent turn on them as well. Make sure you center mount.

on second thought forget the groomers, i want a symmetrical park ski that can shred rails and jumps and ripp up tree's

i just came back from a ski trip to le massif and mont st anne this weekend and got my first taste of real treee skiing and ive found my new love, unfortunatly i rarely get to ski these trees so like i said i need something that can do the park well

Their are no problems with my skis. I don't count topsheet chipping as a problem since it happens to every ski.
