Swollen Feet?

I bought new boots 3 weeks ago. They feel great, usually. The first time I got them home I walked all over the house in them, they were so comfortable.

2 weeks ago we drove from TO to Whiteface, over night. Slept maybe three hours, got up and put the boots on. They didn't feel right. Too narrow. Skied that day, and the next day, same thing, they feel too tight, the heal is painfully tight, toes are crunched up. Next day same thing. I pretty much forgot how they originally felt, and was getting pretty pissed at them.

This weekend I went to Blue, put the boots on and they were golden agian.

I'm thinking my feet must have swelled up on the long drive, affecting the next few days fit. Unless I'm missing something obvious.

Anyone experience this? Or have remedies or strategies to avoid this?

When you were on the road did you boots get cold overnight. tones of the newer boots are meant to be more flexible, if they get cold and stay cold the will feel real tight! Even when you ski in you boots they stay warm. When I stay the night in the car I take my boots and put them in the bottom of my sleeping bag, also feels great in the morning, nice warm boots!

Try loosening the boots, and wearing warmer socks. WHen they get cold and loose blood, when you take them off they will turn red and swollen. Just some friendly advise.

what was the altitude change on your 3 hr drive? is it possible your feet swelled due to altitude and then when you put them in the boots they were tight? correct me if I'm wrong but don't feet swell if you're rising in altitude? like on airplanes..?

Boots were warm, in the car, then stored in the room.

I use thick socks, they were dry.

I don't think the altitude would be significant, it was Toronto to Lake Placid, I don't think that would be too much..

you have to keep your boots buckled at the end of the day because the liner expands and so it seems smaller.

i used to do this, but i just got new boots and it doesn't make a difference with them so i just don't do it. but generally you are correct.
