Switching to telemark...

Today I was in EXP182, Intro to Freeheel Skiing, and I totally got my turns down. I'm fuckin hooked, I'm going to gear exchange this weekend and trading in my Alpine gear... so addicting, I feel like a little kid again. This was an unprecedentedly powerful injection of vibrance into my ride, much needed. Ever since my shoulder injury I've been too cautious, I've closed myself up and forgotten the feeling of risk and excitement I used to thrive on. I'm ready to get sketchy and ragewild all over again, this was the kick in the ass I needed. I feel high from skiing today... so beautiful.

Sorry if there are alot of threads like this, I don't really know, but I had to let you guys know how great it is. If you haven't tried it, try it!

I respect it all the way. I'm just not into it. I like hitting features too much, and don't even know how you'd do that on tele's

EXP182 Intro to freeheel skiing? Is this like a high school course orr? If it is that's MEGA FUCKING RAD AND I'M SO JELLY.

Tele is fun, im pretty good at it on smooth snow. BUT you get in the bumps and its a whole new animal. crazy crazy hard. but the tele turn is such an incredible feeling, i just wish i could ski bumps worth a damn. haha

free your heel and free your mind

also when it doubt lock um down.

or half a binding half a skier.

tele: your excuse to be last down the mtn.

love tele skiing but i dont think i could trade in my alpine stuff and give it up completely. i plan on find a tele set up on sale somewhere this summer

that's whats great about this change. it's a totally new, radical departure from the usual, kicking off a new journey. the old one is dead anyway

i've always wanted to try telemarking but probably never will...

do me a favor and do a drop knee-carving cork 5 for me. it is my dream tele trick. thank you

me and my friends always tell my friend who teles a little joke."Do you know what the hardest part about tele skiing is?....telling your mom you're gay? hahaha

but no that's sick he just harp on my friend because we think tele is limiting his skiing.

"Drop the knee, not bombs"

bumper sticker on my dads car. its mad fun though, waaaay more fun when just cruising

i just demo'd a tele setup over the weekend. holy crap is it hard, but it gives you a whole new perspective on a boring little PA ski area. i kind of figured out how to actually carve turns on some of the smoother, mellower trails, and linking turns on teles is a really cool feeling. have fun with it!

Tele would be fun on days when conditions were boring. Something different and exciting. Can't say I would trade in my clamps though.

Interesting you say that. I feel like tele will be amazing once I get out west and get to ski some pow. Automatically, knee-deep days on alpine become face-shot days on tele, and face-shot days on alpine become that much more dramatic on tele, white room.

Wants some granola ya filthy hippy? How about a pit stop in the woods? Free the heel ski for real.

Tele is fun for bc travel, only time when iv found i actually enjoy it other than just fun laps in the spring...

i learned recently too, it fun but i find it scary. i find i have to tone it back or risk injury. i actually hurt my knee first day going to hard, falling and then realizing that the bindings dont let go for anything

Welcome to the team.

And to those who think that telemarking will only hinder your skiing, Ive only become a better skier since switching two years ago. Especially my park game. SW opposite 7s anyone?

Hell yeah. Respect. I'm in a tele class as well and it's gonna kill me to lock my heel down tomorrow. Keep doin' what you love!

get a tele set up and skins but keep an alpine setup if you can swing it. They complement each other so well. I love being able to go on walkabouts with the touring rig or change it up if things are getting stale but also hitting the resorts/parks/easy access powder on alpine binders.
