Switch

How do I hit a jump switch? I can never get big air when i hit a jump switch. Do I just pop off the jump like I was hitting it normal?

Yeah pop but don't slow down because you're going switch take the same amount as speed as forward. And make sure you can ski switch properly, if you can't check out the trick tip cult it will help

Make sure you can ski switch well (not pizza) if you can carve switch and you commit you should have plenty of speed to get pop switch.

I don't "pop" off. I just drop in, spot the takeoff and start rotating when I feel myself come off the lip. It was a lot easier than I ever thought it would be. Just start by trying to float some nice switch 180s and then its all downhill from there.

im guessing you hit mini-kickers? if you want airtime enough to get over the lip you need to pop just as much as you should do when spinning normal

Because your weight is forward on a normal pop, your weight must be back on a switch pop. Try putting more weight on your heels, and think about popping evenly off both feet. To get balanced on both feet do some little hope on your way into the jump.

haha i ate so much shit trying to do a switch 3 on a lil 30ft my hood blew in my face from my sweatshirt so i couldnt see a thing, went all corked and my hip is so swollen... just make sure your hood wont blow in your face and blind u..

stay centered and over your feet. look over your shoulder you naturally spin towards...make sure you pop!!... i find myself taking more speed into jump switch because i go straighter, also, i think its easier to spin bigger spins switch. when you pop into a spin switch, the first 180 happens without effort. to do a switch 5, pop hard and spot it like a forward 3...sw 7= pop hard and spot like a forward 5...i have decent switch 7s and can bring switch 9s around, but my forward 7s are a joke. just force yourself to spot through the first 180 and after that brining stuff around is just spinning a forward spin of less rotation.

if your not doing anything cork, your just spinning, i like to pop off of my oposite inside edge. so if you spin left, pop off of the inside edge of your right ski, and if you spin right, pop of the inside edge of your left ski. make sure your not doing a wedge into the jump, keep them parallel. if you do something sw cork or whatever you might carve, but just for spins pop off the opposite inside edge. that really helps me, but other people might be different

Congratulations on bumping an old thread!

Also, if you are coming in backwards and landing backwards, wouldn't you think that would be harder than coming in forwards and landing forwards?

^^^ but if you think about your head position in a switch 3 it is much easier. you can see the landing almost the whole way through
