switch without twintips

I want to try doing jumps switch but dont have twitips yet, im saving money to buy a pair for next year. i can ski switch fine without twitips, but i was wondering if i'd run into any problems when i try to take hits in the park switch without twintips. will my tails dig into the hit when it starts to slope upwards or anything like that?

thats what i was thinkin. im probably gonna try hitting the small 15' table at schweitzer, which doesnt have a very steep takeoff.

I never took off without twins, but i landed just fine off smaller jumps, like the one you mentioned. Just make sure they don't dig in too hard when you're landing.

We'll have you dead pretty soon.

If your going fast enough switch and catch your tails and fall, it hurts like hell. Make your own twin tips my heating the tails of your skis and bending them back by putting them in a crack between boards, porch. It works best if you have a wood stove. Don't heat the skis too much, or they will bubble and break. Also don't put the skis directly in the flame. I'd experiment first on some old skis. If you don't have a wood stove, try using boiling water, but I am not sure if boiling water works.

You CAN ski and land switch without twintips.... It's pretty fun when your tips catch the snow and you eat shit......

back in the day my race coach was teaching me threes on a roller at the end of our course, and on the first try I did a 180 on slolom skis, and proceeded to whip backwards so hard that I knocked my helmet off (which I was very glad to be wearing). Just borrow some twintips.

Why ask ppl online how to do it? the best way is to go out and learn it for urself.

to me skiing is life, and you may say i have no life but i could image doing nothing more kickass than skiing everyday. -flatspin720

man rossie cuts are not flat tail though, its raised enough in back, it looks raised the same height as the old concepts n candides almost. its a shitty twin man.

i wouldnt recommend it. before i had my 1080s i skied atomic beta ride 10.20s with the 2 inch race lifters. fucking stiff ski, so landing backwards was always death.

just be careful if you do, definetely wear a helmet.

I feel bad for people who don't drink, cause when they wake up in the morning, thats the best the're going to feel all day

coo i'll have to dig my helmet out, havent worn it all season. im getting some twins as soon as i get enough money so hopefully i wont have to do switch without twins for too long.

one of my mates (double_lincom_loop) landed a massive 9 in a pair of volkl p40's like 4 years ago, it was the shit until he went for 10 and got a super high quality knock out!!! mad props to ya jimmy for that one!

ahh i did 5's with my atomics and they only had a semi twin... just don't do any switch landings or riding in any pow!

It helps if the the skis have a slight tip at the tail- like the salomon carves or similar. I can land switch on salomon carves but taking off switch is pretty hard on steep jumps.

heat your tails up on a stove....when the base starts to bubble and get soft ..run out side and wedge it between two solid things and bend it...and wwhile bending through snow on to it to cool it down...you gotta be quick through all of this...this works..we did it to my friends old racing skis...obviosly only do this if you dont care about your non twin tip skis

I've landed switch without twins but i dont think id be getting any major speed and hitting big jumps without twins.. Do you have a helmet? haha, cause thats going to hurt bigtime if your tips catch.

I been in the park all year without twins I'm on a Big 186 dynastar speed

If it was easy they would call it snowboarding.

If you don't want to fuck up your skis trying to bend them, put your weight on the tips of your skis or just stand on the balls of your feet.

A while back I tried taking off switch on a big table without twins. The problem is carrying your speed through the lip. Without twins, it's just hard to go fast and still keep your tails from digging.

i've got an old pair of non-twin tip skis that i'm willing to sacrifice for going switch, so would just a kitchen stove work to heat up the tails? and if the whole process does actually work, how skiable are the skis realistically?

i went 3 years without twins, not once did i ever eat shit hittin or landing switch

It can be done, i Just wouldn't want to hit a big booter at high speed switch

oh the process works.....it most likley delam the part that you bent but some apoxy might solve any problems there...of course there skiable..your just bending the tips

lol i tried taking a jump switch, and i have Rossignol Cobra's which have almost no turned up tail, and the back of my head ate shit

I'm so big

you'd have to jump and swing up

just to hit me in the knees....

I can go as fast as I want and do anything I want without twins I been doing it all year long and never have dug my skis into the ground
