yeah, so today was my first day really trying to learn how to ski switch. i am decent, but i do pretty quick little slash turns. how do you make longer carving turns? also, i keep semi-snow-plowing, so how can i avoid this so i can be able to straightline something? it seems when i turn my head it is hard to keep them going straight.

anyway, thanks for the help.

just practice it a ton, as you get more comfortable with it you'll be willingto go faster and smoother

also, one ski should be a little in front of the other.

oh yeah? well me and my friends have been bathing off the southern coast of st. bards, chilling with spider monkeys. tripping on acid gave us a whole new perspective on shit.

theres a freeze with pretty good instruction. im not sure what volume but it was this year and the pic that goes with the tip is of andy mahre

yea, that is possibly the most helpful freeze trick tip ever. Look it up, it tells you everything about proper switch technique

EC is right when he says to just practice... there's definitely tips to help but just riding switch whenever you get a chance is the best way to build confidence and get better. I used to suck at switch and I'm still not great, but I spent most of a season just popping around switch and getting used to it. practice makes perfect!

work on it on a beginner or intermediate slope. you will start with sloppy slide turns rather than carving, but you will get better really fast. A couple of days ago I could barely ski switch, now I can get down a mogul field switch (of course I fell twice :) Just practice a bunch and have fun with it

I dream of winter.

Do it alot, to carve longer turns push the outside ski to that turn back a little and you'll ade into it. Just do it alot it wil come naturally after a bit, its like playin a video game with inverted controllers you suck when you switch it up but if you aways play that way your back to normal soon.

impossible is really just a lack of determination

thanks for the help. i will definately be practicing more, but i have just one more question. where should i be leaning, mor forward or backward? i think this might be the reason why my edges keep washing out, and i cant get a solid carve.

center mount your skis too.

and I said lean forward, because he'll think hes doing so but really wont. Because once he gets the presure on his shins he'll stop leaning forward.
