Switch spinning

i can sw 3 decently on like a 15 foot kicker. I have one question though. Should i be starting the spin after i my skis are off the lip or sorta like my skis go into the spin while on the inrun.

like should i almost be 90 off the lip when taking off? Or spin once the noses take off the lip?

Thanks

Yes, you want to start your spin after you pop off the lip. If you start it too early you can catch an edge and eat shit.

i find carving into the lip helps me avoid catching my tips. carve in hte direction you want to spin, but if you carve hard, then you will cork.

helps?

I cannot spin switch to save my life. Whenever I try it (only off tiny jumps like 15 at the most) i slide like 90 when i'm still on the jump because i get scared, but that just makes me catch and edge. my friend did teach me how to do it, and i got a couple good switch 1's, but i would not say i'm comfortable. the way he taught em was to just look over my shoulder and i will automatically spin. any tips for going switch off bigger jumps / bigger switch spins? like how do i pop switch.

okay just start out doing those sw 180s like your friend taught you. work your way up and keep doing them over and over. then after you are comfortable with those, try kinda getting a little spin so that when you are halfway through the air you are straight, then you just finish it out. then once you get comfy with those go for spinning a little harder and whipping that last 180 around for the sw 5. that might be a bad explanation...sorry if it is

for switch fives, its all about the pop. make sure you are really low coming into the jump, and carve slightly into the jump, it will make you cork SLIGHTLY, but yoour tips will almost never catch. when going for teh five, make sure you look over your shoulder. as soon as you stop looking for the landing (eg. a glance at teh landing while your at 180 or 270) and youre fucked. keep looking and good luck!
