switch spinning - looking over shoulder

I have a problem with spinning switch. I look over my right shoulder, or in other words my 'unnatural' shoulder. It is the only way i can comfortably ski switch. But i spin to the left. So spinning switch is either unnatural or i don't do it at all. I need help

if i want to spin regular, it means looking right then popping, whipping my head around then starting rotation, i can't get it down

RES

mattster333-whats a safety grab somebody explain to me plz

MSRC_Freestylist-safety is ur right hand grabbing the outside of your right ski

k2skeepimp-nooo,hes wrong, safety grab is when you give yourself a big hug so u feel safe

mattster333-u sure?

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM

when i ski switch i look over my right shoulder but spin2 da left

as aproaching the jump look over the right shoulder then bout 2 seconds b4 da jump look over your left shoulder

at the lip pop off the jump spin your shoulder and looking

u should get it

GOOD LUCK

go BIG or go HOME

just ski around switch a lot and force yourself to look over your left shoulder or the shoulder of the way you spin, eventually it will be comfortable

I guess you just have to work with it and make sure to equalize your weight on both feet (don't just put all your weight on the shoulder you are looking over)

I am with you guys. I spin to the right but feel comfortable looking over my left shoulder and when I come to the jump I am looking over my left shoulder then switch it at the last second because I realize it is not going to work.

I guess just practice is the key word here

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

be careful not to spin too soon though. catching the tips is fairly common

A cocktail, you asked for a cocktail.

BACON

No, I asked you to give me a refreshing drink. I wasn't expecting a

i find it easier to spin unnatural switch, but then again im a retard who grabs right and spins right.

i had the same problem here too! the first time i tried to do a switch one, i ended up doing a switch rodeo and landed on my face. i heard it looked pretty cool tho

changing the stereotype of skiiers one jib at a time

skiing is just like sex. when its good, its goooooood. and when its not so good, its still pretty good.

im tired of the mother fucking jacket!

a bar of soap?

haha thats right, got you good fucker!

i have that exact same problem, i look over my right shoulder, but spin to the left naturally, i find its easier to do switch 180s when im spinning unaturally, because its hard to look over my left shoulder when skiing switch.

go on a switch-fari (see profile). I wasn't able to comfortably take off switch because I could only to clockwise 180s and then spin clockwise off the jump. I'd have to turn my head all the way around. i just started doing counterclockwise 180s (natural for most of ya) so i wouldn't have to turn my head all the way around. took a few crashes but now i can do 180s both ways and i'm getting used to looking over both shoulder's so i can get the best possible visibility of things behind me. I don't agree with alpentalik on this one, us right spinner/grabbers aren't retards we're just different. Don't be so hard on yourself for being special, man, dude, man.

I had the same problem last year, so i just skied around on groomers switch looking over my natural shoulder and it really helped me get used to it.

yeah I spin switch the opposite way I spin normally. Just practice carving backwards all the way down trails it forces you to look over opposite shoulders on every big carve or youll blind scary at first but youll get used to it just do it on greens and blues all the tourons will point at you and say 'Oh MY GOD HES SKIING BACKWARDSS!

Crashin' with Passion'

that's what i hope somebody will say when i'm skiing switch but I'm the only one saying 'Oh my god i'm skiing backward!' i want to be cool so bad it hurts!

I think he gets the idea to practice skiing switch down runs.

Haha, almost every single person said it.

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

Hi everyone,

I am bumping the thread because I have a similar issue, but perhaps a bit more sophisticated?

I ski over right shoulder, spin left, but when I go to change left, it's like I cant actually look over that shoulder, and the faster I go the worse it gets. If I am going slow, I can kind of look over my left, but as I pick up speed I gradually start facing forwards again, making me blind and start to freak out.

I can see more over my right than my left

Has this got anything to do with flexibility in the back or neck, or does it just take practice?

Thanks a lot

used to have the exact same problem. you literally have to just stop looking over your right shoulder and force yourself to look over your left. practice turning and skiing fast switch looking over the correct shoulder and it surprisingly gets really easy really fast.

I have the same problem and so i just started spinning unnaturally whenever i did anything switch. Now i can do unnaty spins switch more easily than natty spins and I look at it as a good problem.
