Switch skiing

make sure you aren't doing a switch snowplow accidentally,it's really common for people that are just starting to do this, not only does i slow you down, it looks like shit.

trying hitting the jump regular...if u don't clear it then the there must be some reason u can't clear it. like...the jump is to big for the steepness of the hill. if u clear with ease regular, but can't swtich. then obvouisly your skiing switch, suckily. so go straight back and don't do that switch pizza. o and for all intents in purposes this was a pretty stupid question. just think about man u can figure that out...

mmmm switch pizza sounds good, wax your skis get down lower and try to be aerodynamic. Land on your head to absorb it if you deck out.

i never said i pizza my skis backward retard i think the jump was to big for the slope now that i think about it

first of all, even if your not snowplowing, your perception ofspeed is different, so you may not be going as fast. Also you cant tuck going in sw. Finally you may not be popping as much and if you are spinning you often turn a bit on the jump, causing more loss of speed.

yeah this was a problem for me last season when I started switch tricks, just make sure your legs and skis are pointing straight down the hill and everything should be good.

the guy said dont put your skis in a pizza then you replyed with yeah but all the pros put there skis wide apart

no they dont, have you actually watched? half of them or more keep their legs together going into a jump maybe just a little wider but thats it

not a true tuck, you can hunch over, but i'd like to see you do a real tuck switch, and then stand up in time to hit the jump

he's a telemarker, ofcourse he can't tuck switch, he'll be eating snowcones. get real skis or go to the cross country trails.

Practice your pop. It's harder to time it right when going switch. Practice on smaller jumps then move onto ones with a deck.

Word above. basicly you bend you knees and crank your neck to see... or if it doesn't bother you just keep your head nearer to the ground and look at everything upside down.

hahahahaha.

no really watch out for the accidental snowplow. try keeping your bases flat against the snow. once you get your speed dialed you can start carving into your steeze

haha, ok i stand corrected. i've still never seen anyone doing a true tuck switch, but it prolly is possible. and to whoever was dissing on teleskiing, thats weaksauce, we're all skiers and im just as stoked to see an alpiner do something as a tele skier, so why don't you just calm down and not worry about tele vs. alpine.

the real problem is that the majority of park skiers cannot turn a ski to save their life...if you cant carve going fowards your not going to beable to turn going backwards...try spending time out of the park skiing "switch" down every run possible...I do three warm up switch laps top to bottom at Alpine every morning (cept pow days)...it loosens you up and teaches you proper form...if you can haul ass carving super g turns switch at 40mph you can huck a jump backwards....

BTW - this has been said before but it is NOT "switch" it is fakie...switch is a skateboarder term that does not apply to skiing

i hate you. just kidding, that was my impression of 99% of this site. but seriously, try it normal, if u clear it, head at it normal, pop a lil 180 after uve built up speed and hit it switch, if u can still clear it, work it into your line you were talkin about before, im sure u'll get it. good luck bro.

yea switch pizza wedging is the biggest thing to avoid just over-emphasize keeping your skis straight and then it will come naturally

funny thing is, i bet that kids better than you. how much does it suck to get beat by a telemarker, im curious. and dude, next time dont rag on telemarkers. thats just plain stupid.

yeah well the pros still keep their skis straight when they widen their stance off a jump. the average kid will be like cool im gonna look like a pro gorilla steeze!! and they spread out their legs but are snowplowing in the process.

i've seen free heelers do some insane shit on twin tips. cork 7's in the park, bombing shit switch.. they deserve some mad props.

no kidding, i mean not only are they skiing telemark skis which are (i believe) harder to ski than downhill alpine skis but they are throwing insane tricks. think about this, they call themeselves free because they they are freeheelers and we consider ourselves freeride/freestyle so if they are freeriding/freestyling their freeheel teleskies, they must be b really free.
