Switch skiing versus switch snowboarding

Snowboarding Switch is really hard. It pisses me off so much when people say its the same just with the other foot forward. It takes so much tecnique, it looks easy but you pretty much have to learn how to snowboard all over again with your other foot forward.

theyre 2 different sports. why does it matter? it just depends on how you learn. if you learn switch and regular on skis the same day, its gonna be easier than switch on a snowboard.

i think skiings harder but skiers are better so it looks easier

when a skier goes switch it looks awesome but whne a snoboarder goes switch it looks the same

anybody who says switch skiing is harder/takes more skill than switch snowboarding has OBVIOUSLY NEVER SNOWBOARDED BEFORE. Learning to snowboard switch is literally like learning how to snowboard all over again. It'll normally take a full season to feel natural when your linking turns switch, and learning to do switch tricks is the same way. Sure, once you figure everything out switch then its just like riding regular, but the learning process of simply riding and then doing tricks is MUCH more difficult than in skiing. Also, certain things remain harder to do switch on a snowboard, while other things are a bit easier. Switch halfpipe riding is a little bit easier on a snowboard, while switch jumps are prbly easier on skis (snowboarders arent doing switch 12's or 14's)

Wow, that boarder is the first one I've heard say that switch on boards is harder. I've talked to many, many snowboarders and they said that skiing switch is one of the sickest things they see.

whatever dude. we're snowboarders on skis. we're the same sport essentially. i wish people would quit complaining about the differences

In the park and on groomers they are pretty comperable but in powder it's a whole other story. Skiing switch in powder is way harder than snowboarding swith. So three you go skiing switch is OVERALL more difficult.

how is skiing switch any different from boarders skiing backwards? isnt actually harder to ski with your back down the mountain then just a different way to point your shoulders? Snowboarders are still gay! stupid kids

Umm, am I the only one that thinks this is a pointless arguement? Just because both techniques are called riding switch doesnt mean its the same. you cant compare it at all. I suppose its not as retarded of an arguement as saying snowboarding is easier than skiing though.

when you ski switch, its all about making it look smooth and stylie towards the jump. you dont wanna look like a gaper backwards snowplowing. but its really easy to carve switch once you get it

I've done both, I like to think that I pretty much flow on the hill when I'm riding swithc, and it was pretty difficult to learn, now I'm working on looking over both shoulders and what not, but snowboarding switch seems easier, but to be able to ride smooothly on a snowboard when riding switch takes just as much time to learn as on skis. except htat when you ski backwards you are pretty blind to the hill and collisions do happen

i used to snowboard and it was hard for me either way haha but i was able to ride both ways not even relizing it was called switch and shit. that was last winter and i didn't know shit but now i ski and i learned switch in my first week. so i don't think its comparable. but trying doing a switch zero off a 30 ft table top vs a switch zero off a 30 ft on a board.then see

yea i agree skiing switch is really hard, well anyone can snowplow backwards but too actually make nice smoth carves backwards, like carving on the lip of a jump switch and then throwing a huge spin would be reeeaaallllyyyy hard, oh and skiing switch in powder, dont even get me started. or landing switch off a big jump into pow

To me Boarding switch isnt hard its just going backwards for me. Ifind it harder to ski switch than boarding, and my friend always boards switch when i ski switch and yells to me look i can do it too its not hard, but he retarded and must not understand the difference between backwards and sideways

Switch skiing is much more difficult especially when ur going off jumps switch or going in the pipe switch... that snowboarder is mad gay!

Yeah I think skiing switch is harder, like just cruising switch isn't hard but carving switch definatley is. The thing about snowboarding switch is that every snowboarder learns on the "Falling Leaf" technique which is boarding switch and regular. So their accustoming themselves to riding switch from early on.

Skiing snowboarding is fuckin' hard as hell. I've never skiied switch, so I cant compare, but riding switch is super hard. It's the total opposite, and it's insanely easy to eff up a turn, go flatbased and catch an edge, etc.

haha, that logic really makes no sense at all. nice life.

oh yeah, who really cares which is harder? skiing switch looks cooler and that really is all that matters when it comes down to your actual skiing. dressing cool- not important. making your skiing look cool (and thus good)- very important. sure, having fun is the number one thing, but having good style (cool) is also very important.

It would seem like snowboarding switch would be easier but after only 1 season of skiing im better switch on my skis than my snowboard which ive been doing for 6 seasons. It just seems more natural on skis.

ur still supposed to have ur wait on the front of ur boats not downhill. so u dont want to be in the backseat.

Skiing Switch is by far harder then switch snowboarding. Whoever the boarder u were talkin to definitly has down syndrome.

snowboarding switch sucks cuz your not used to it and its like learning all over again but skiing backwards would be scary as shit

think about it though, you can take a beginner lesson switch on a board, no biggie, its just like starting new, going the wrong way, you cant show up at a beginner ski lesson and ski switch the whole time... switch skiing is way harder

Skiing switch is way easier than snowboarding switch. I snowboarded for the last 3 years and now have gone back to skiing for a year. Snowboarding feels a lot more ackward because the transfer of weight from edge to edge is a lot harder. I ski switch ten times better than snowboarding switch but thats also probably cause i play hockey.

well, something no one has brought up is the fact that you cant say if skiing switch is harder than snowboarding switch, its personal preferance, and what really makes the two different is the fact that snowboarding switch is like writing with your left hand instead of right hand, same movements and body mechanics just mirrored,

skiing switch however is different technique than forward and totally different body position. its not the opposite of forward, its just a whole different thing. if anything spinning your unnatural way is more comparable to snowboarding switch cause it is the original body position and mechanics mirrored.

at least snowboarding hitting big booters switch, and riding switch you are still facing forward. i dont snowboard but that is somehting that seems much esaier thatn taking off big booters not even facing the jump and think about landing how much harder it is to get your balance and weight right

Well if you're spinning you're still going to be blind at one point or another.

On skis you don't exactly ride backwards and not turn your head.
