Switch Skiing No Longer allowed at Alta

i had the same problem in sun peaks, me and my sister where skiing this tree run which comes out on a really open flat section, like 500m long. when we hit the flat we both started skiing switch not fast just crusing, this patroler going past on a skidoo pulled us up and marked our ticket and gave us this big lecture. What pissed me off the most was it was the first day of my trip and only my second run.
 
sorry for digging up this thread, but is this really true that you cant ski fakie at alta anymore, or is a joke?
 
I'm going to Alta/SB in March and I probably won't ski Alta. I do'nt like that they don't allow snowboarders. It's the kind of place that gapers from here in the East coast get stickers and put them on their pocket rockets to make themselves feel hardcore...
 
Let me put it this way. I was in the Dipper lift line at Heavenly the other day. And there were 4 people in line in front of me, next to each other waiting to get on the lift. Each with old ass one-piece ski suits, and pocket rockets with Alta stickers on the tips. That to me is alta...hopefully I'll get a better appreciation once I get there.. I'm sure its sick despite all the crap..
 
alta is so sick dude, i go there every year, and most of the people are hardcore locals who just love to ski.. the reason that there are no boarders is becasue it was traditionaly a no boarder place, and most of thier good terrain you have to kinda skate to/ side step to, so boarders wouldnt like that much. but i get what u r saying, there are a few kids who will just be straight up pricks and say they love alta cuz of no snowboarders, i dont even notice it when i am there.
 
sweet...I'm stoked to go there for the first time. My pass is good at Alta and snowbird so I'll probably split my time between the two.
 
word, they both kick ass, but if youve never been on a tram, you should get a tram pass, if not, dont bother (for snowbird) cuz a lift ticket will get you eveywhere the tram does.
 
haha... sounds like the ski patrolers at alta are dicks! at my hill you can do whatever, they even load me on the t-lifts switch
 
That's fucking stupid. Should've just told him that people who know how to ski switch are way less dangerous to themselves and others doing that than 95% of the assholes who go up every day skiing forward... and honestly, "you're certainly not making yourself look cool"...? Because that's why we do it...
 
Dude, I'm a patroller at my little local here in Minnesota. I've got Public Enemies and ski backwards all the damn time. I always get props for it by the other patrollers and the ski schoolers.

FUCK THAT GUY! But that's just me and I'm a patroller
