Switch Race, Tues. 29th

With all the new snow at Whistler, I’m organizing a switch race.

The details are tentative so far, so email me if something doesn't work for you, or if you have a suggestion. (Dan – danieljameseaton@gmail.com).

Date: Tues. March 29th

Time: Undecided. Noon/lunch hour probably for Whistler employees.

Place: Undecided. Maybe Saddle to Franz’s where you hit the cat track. Suggestions appreciated. I want a course where you actually need some skill, and can’t just straight-line the whole thing.

Entry: $5 into a pot, which goes to the first down (heats if necessary). Basically, beer money for the winner.

Rules: If you want rules, go race FISuck, this race is Chinese downhill. Will have start/finish lines. Riders will have 50-100m to switch up, then must ride the remainder of the course switch or be dq’ed. I’m thinking to allow full stops, ex. if you over-speed-check and are about to swing around, then you must come to a complete stop before continuing. That way people can at least slow down if they get too out of control.

I’ve been meaning to organize this all season, and the conditions are perfect now. Send me an email if you wanna participate. Spread the word, but keep it under the patrol radar.

holy shit, in a dream I had there was a switch race as well, there were like 40 ppl there. Sean P. CJ, my brothers, Rex, etc all the local riders

we all went down Springboard switch. I was in first when I bailed and Mcgoverned it down the whole run.

Yeah man, my main motivation is meeting some skiers who rip it up switch better than me. I know they must exist (I've seen 'em in ski vids!), but haven't seen or met any. I haven't been pushed for a couple seasons, and am starting to stagnate.

You down? I've got some buddies into the idea, and talked to the guys at the glacier shop who seemed interested (I posted a notice there, too), so I'm hopin for a reasonable turnout.

If you have any extra ideas, or if you want to help run this thing (considering you thought of it too), that'd be fucken sweet.

Also I ski Blackcomb, 98% of the time, that being said, Friday Sat and Sun I’ll be at Blackcomb

I should have said that I'm not set on Whistler, Blackcomb is just as good.

Fuck eh, I'm starting to think I should just change it to Monday. I'm a student, so I can take whatever day off anytime, but most people will be back at work Mon. Only prob is that I'm up at Big White this weekend, but can get back Sun. night I guess.

What's your opinion (I'm from van, and don't know many of the local Whistler riders) -- would there be more people down on Monday?

 
If I didn't have to work, I would be there for sure.

I'll be at big nig all weekend -- couldn't resist the +200 base. Doesn't look like it's gonna happen Tues, cuz too many people are busy.

Ah well, I tried, and will try again since I really want to fucken do this. Let me know if you get one going...
