"SWITCH" IS FOR IDIOTS

I'm campaining we all say "Backwards".

Example:

Dude that backward 7 true tail was so sick! You are so good at hitting jumps backwards!
 
I have to agree with the Powder article on this subject it was in the most recent issue. They said it should be called skiing "BiF" or Brown eye first :o lol

did u just read the article in this months powder and decide u should take it and make a thread u thought would be cool? who cares what switch means... it sounds better than fakie.
 
Always interesting to hear the mostly noncontributive responses. Why bother posting? Post on something that interests you more. My whole point with this post IS to bring issues like "why switch". Sure we've all read about it in Skeeze and other recents mags, but with switch skiing being such an important part of how our industry is being presented and defined, doesn't it deserve constant attention and refining? Isn't it alot more important than the name of the next grab? It all comes down to how your average non-skier (maybe a snowboarder) perceives our sport. In my eyes I hope switch won't stick as the end all work to describe skiing backward's, although it's most likley too late to change that. It is up to us though, nobody else.
 
In my opinion skiing is about the skiers who do it. Getting hung up on what others think will only hinder the progression of the sport.

 
Well the only way for our sport to grow and THEREby progess is by getting NEW people involved in skiing, not the people who are already doing it. Sadly TJ shiller's knees just might not make it to the next millenium.

RIDIN DIRTY: a skiers ability to ski backwards at a fast pace weaving in and out of human slalom on a ski hill. (can also be taken to the backcountry as well)

In use: "Yo son, check that kid, he's ridin dirty..." -or- "Quit tryin to catch me ridin dirty skipatrol.." -or Announcer: "here comes dumont riding dirty... ooooh that was the sickest dirty 10 ive seen yet"
 
you cant say back side, becuase thats a spinnning direction for snowboarding, like skiing has unatural, boarding has backside. but yeah, ridin dirty it is
 
please! can people stop arguing this and just say what they wanna say!! skiing isnt a language or a dictionary, its a sport..

get out of my face. who do you think you are having the right to lable switch skiing as being a step backwards in our sport. Kids like you kill me.
 
Call it whatever, I usually say switch, cause people know what I'm talking about that way. Riding JEA, Ridin' Dirty, and Riding Goofy (according to the person that said when you ride the opposite direction on a skate/snow board than regular it's called goofy) all sound sweet to me though. And yes, Cab and Fakie both sound fairly queer.

ahahahaha, i love how i said riding dirty as a joke and now people are actually using it. but hey whatever, to each his own. individuality is what makes this sport so great and unique.
 
This is all cuz of that article in powder isnt it lol they wanted to call it Brown Eye First or somethin so why not do that
